I think they overplayed considering he is injury prone and they had to rebuild his knee. - Sir_Winston
What? He didn't have a major surgery bc it was mcl and not his acl, and that's his first injury, a blantent knee from Cooke, you're really out to lunch on this one |

Duchene's wing. That's why. Im not saying it will happen but the Leafs would be a perfect fit. a great 2 way center between Kessel and JVR. Picture perfect 1st line. It makes sense for both the Leafs and Orielly. - JVR_42_PK81

His MCL will never be the same and could be easily re-injured. Secondly I wouldn't say cooke's knee on knee was intentional. Yes he has a bad track record, but they were both competing for the puck and they unintentionally went knee on knee. Not every hit cooke makes is dirty. Perhaps it is you who is out to lunch good sir. |

No you're right, a guy who gets a knee on knee with a known repeat offender is injury prone especially its his first injury. You're a gentlemen and a scholar for your insight |

You know Leafs fans or any teams fans in general don't have the same opinion on everything right? I don't think we will get Stamkos. Its possible but its likely he stays in Tampa.
As for Babcock it makes sense to at least speculate that it might happen. Shanny and him have a great relationship, There have been rumors that he wants a new challenge and the Leafs have all the money in the world and could easily out pay anyone.
As for Orielly again, It makes some sense to me at least. He has had some bad contract negations, He is stuck on a team with two future elite centers, he just signed a 2 year contract that brings him to a UFA, and he fits extremely well between two elite offensive players.(JVR, Kessel) A two way center like him would be perfect. And lastly he is from Ontario, his favorite team growing up was the Leafs and his family and friends all live 20 mins from T.O. So I am sorry but it makes sense and should at least make some sense to you. |

Knee on knee happens all the time right? That's just how hockey players hit each other while competing for the puck. |

Oh yeah favourite team growing up was the leafs you say...pretty sure his draft bio has the Oilers listed as his favourite team, and that comes straight from the leafs website, same as this oilers article layer on. Guess you just assume any player born on Ontario was a leafs fan.

Ok
I had multiple points. Obviously that's the only one you have an argument against it.
and btw I have seen many articles saying that he was a Leafs fan growing up. Maybe that was his favorite team at the time. |

Yeah, it was a bit of a jab at you, but mostly intended towards the article about Babcock today. And as I remember it, Babcock was one of the reasons Shanahan left Detroit. |

Clearly they are not very well researched articles.
You didn't really have that many points, its just a bunch of assumptions being made. Sure hes from souther ontario, but his yoga instructor girlfriend is from Colorado, one of his best friends Joey Hishon is on the Avs as well. His brother Cal is with the Canucks now.
Its not like he has to go to Toronto to have his family and friends see him. |

His Mom Dad live in T.O. Im sure he has other family around there as well. Its where he grew up. Its a very strong point that's hard to argue.
And my strongest point was where he would play. With two elite offensive players. He would get the points and he would compete for selkes every year. Its a perfect spot for him to play. |

People get older. More mature.
You cant argue the money is in Toronto. And I know you know Babcock's ego and whats better to inflate that ego with a cup win for a starving fan base. |

He has Landy, MacK, and Duchene to play with the Avs, he can be on the Wing with Duchene, or at Center with Landy. He has more offensive options with the Avs. He is already competing for Selkes now with the Avs, finished 5th in voting.
So your strongest point is just your want as a leafs fan, its not like the Avs don't have what the "leafs can offer" |

Everyone seems to think that MSLE has a poop ton of money that the Illitch Holdings can't match or beat? If it comes down to money, expect Illitch Jr to outbid anyone if they really want to keep him. |

I think playing the wing in Colorado with a choice of 3 or 4 of the worlds best players that he is familiar with and has a proven chemistry with is even more perfect. |
