He "accidentally" pushed the favorite button? I dont buy that for a second.
As far as his response to staying in Tampa... What else is he supposed to say??? Yea, I am going to Toronto after my contract is up. Dont believe everything you hear.... - GOA88
We have Two years to worry about what he wants to do. As of right now he wants to stay here, he wants to play here and he wants to win so I'm just going to go with that for now. |

You're right, for at least 2 years he is staying in Tampa. I think if he wants to win he'll stay after 2016. If he wants to go home... well then that sucks for you guys.... |

Occum's Razor, and it really is the simplest explanation.
I think people are already blowing up the "pocket tweeting" response, when it was really just an analogy to accidental social media use.

Here is the entire 13 minute interview with Tampa media guys. 5min 20sec mark on the twitter stuff. I don't care about him talking about the tweet, what I liked was him talking about Tampa having a core group of guys now from which to build upon each off season and the pipeline that will continue feeding the team. He seems to really like Yzerman and Vinik are building. - stammerman
Exactly, the guy will play for Toronto when all ontario-born stars do - when he isn't elite anymore, and has already won cups elsewhere.
Seriously though, the lightning are set up to be contenders for the next decade, he won't be walking away from that to join the cap-strapped dumpster fire in Toronto. |

I mean, I'm just thinking from my perspective if I was him.
I could stay in Tampa, with a loaded team of young talent led by one of the greatest players of all time at GM, in a state with extremely low income tax where the weather is sunny and gorgeous all the time and the beaches are right in front of my mansion, and I can afford to fly home whenever I please....
Or I could move to Toronto, live two hours from the arena if I want any privacy or a yard, be under constant media scrutiny from dumb poops like Steve Simmons, be taxed out the ass, and play for a team that can't afford to put any talent around me.
wouldn't be a hard call for me to make, that's for sure. |

Oh my! I seem to have hit a nerve. BTW Markov spent his entire career here. - habfanforever
I know but he is as old as the hills. I remember when Briere, Gionta and Bourque were solid players, then they went to smurfville. Who was the last good player that regressed in Toronto. Jason Blake? Toskala? keep reaching |

I agree with you in some sense but looking at it from a different perspective... I used to live in Tampa as well and it's not the greatest place to live and it's a weak hockey market. Most players dream of playing under the big lights. Having that pressure to perform. Win a cup with your childhood favorite team. Lindros once said the highlight of his career was playing in Toronto. As crazy as that sounds.... players actually feel that way. |

It's shorter, other than that I'm really indifferent towards it. As long as it's still the home of the Tampa Bay Lightning |

I have lived in Tampa for 25 years and it is a great place to live, just because you had a bad experience doesnt mean it is not a great place to live. It's the perfect small city, you are 1 hour or less from anything you want fishing, beach, amusement parks, night life, nature/parks, 2 hrs from Naples and 4 hrs from Miami if you want the high life. And the hockey market is not weak, it has consistently grown since the inception of the Bolts even when they sucked ass they still drew 15 thousand fans - the fan base is 20 years old and we have to deal with transplants who still root for their home team, I know some of the Bolts account reps and they are finally seeing the youth of Tampa who have grown up Bolts fans who are consuming adults buying season tickets, it takes time these kids have to grow up and have money. So the Bolts fan base is only getting bigger. |

Isn't that why the Lightning changed their jerseys a few years back? To confuse him into thinking he was already playing on the Leafs? I mean, they are like the same exact jerseys... |

Somebody breaks their leg once during a pro hockey game and because of that his leg is 'easily shattered into many pieces'. You were a drama major in college, weren't you Mr. Churchill? |

i personally dont see him leaving tampa
why leave the sunny shores where you show up to hockey in sandals , can go out and about in town and not get hassled for a bad season
just to go to a town where if you have one bad shift its the end of the world and the expectations would be insane
