Ironically the guy he showed no loyalty to was Nassib, who doesn't look half bad. Coaches in this town always shoot themselves in the foot by over thinking things. - Buffalo-Sabres
Coaches everywhere over think things...Smart people become dumb.
They'd be better getting 8 hours of sleep rather than working 20 hours a day. |

You make it sound like they were drafting someone manufactured in a lab
And while I agree the comparison is off as in terms of competition, Im fairly certain that going into that draft weekend almost every nfl "expert" had Geno Smith and Ryan Nassib as 1-2 for QB's. I remember a lot of people being surprised with the pick. - Sabresfan-365
Nassib was never a top QB, people speculated that Marrone wanted him when Marrone got the job so he jumped in the rankings.
Most people had Matt Barkley and Mike Glennon over Nassib to begin with |

Lets just put it this way, in typical Buffalo sports fashion, our organization decided they needed a QB in the weakest QB draft maybe in decades.
However I think it's possible EJ is still the best of that bunch. |

My thoughts on tomorrows game...
Manuel goes 24-35 289 2 TD's 1 INT on the last drive that goes through Robert Woods hands and we lose by 4 and people on these boards still want to run him out of town after game 11 of his career.
30-26 Bears.
Give the kid a chance before running him out of town.
I also agree the problem here isn't Manuel its Hackett |

Tyler Wilson was also up there at one point. My point was that I never once saw an expert, a mock draft or a scout ever talk about EJ Manuel as the top guy, most of the conversation centred around Geno Smith.
It was only after that ESPN sports science special on Manuel came out that people started going "ahah so that's why", but up until then, mainstream media barely mentioned him.
It was also widely speculated that bills could have gotten Manuel in the 2nd round, I don't know if that's true but if it is it seems kind of wasteful considering they originally had the 8th overall pick. |

Conversely, if Manuel goes something like 14-24 200 yds but throws 2 TD's and one of them is game winner is he regarded as clutch/elite? |

With getting Kiko and Woods in the 2nd round, I can't complain about that draft.
They probably could have had EJ in the 2nd, but if he really was their guy why risk it when you have 2 2nds?

You mean his arrival game? Haha. A win on the road would do him wonders I think. I would never call him clutch or elite unless he throws 40 TD's with only 10 picks and 5000 yards and the Bills go 12-4 |

Helluva stat line. I am curious as to what it would take for EJ to get the fans good sign though. Yards? Accuracy?. I'd say wins but it sounds like even in that scenario you could attribute the wins to say the defense and still have Manuel shouldering a lot of blame. |

Every been to a combine ? That is exactly what they are looking for . Do you think all that testing is done for no reason . Every coach thinks he can turn that specimen into an all pro. I remember that draft and every expert did not have Smith and Nassib . It was a tossup who went first . The top 3 or 4 were going to be based on what a team was looking for . No player separated himself from the rest .

Give me something like Andy Dalton stat line and 10 wins. I personally am not on the shovel manure on Manuel bandwagon. But you don't need to be elite to win in this league. Russell Wilson is not Elite he is good but not Elite. I think with the right system Manuel could be that QB but I don't think the Hackett system is the ideal system for him. |
