The Gold Edition is the one you should go for here. And it's not completely unreasonably priced.

Their standard single barrel is also very good.

Ole greeny is a bit weak at 80 proof, it's ok, but you can do better with the above two.

I've never had the barrel proof from Blantons. In general, most non-hardcore bourbon drinkers are a bit turned off by the barrel proof offerings out there.

just went food shopping but went to the liquor store instead.

got the bernheim again to go back and try a wheat whiskey now that i have a better idea what maybe is supposed to be going on with it.

gentleman jack was on sale for $29.49 and i had it at a party around christmas time and liked it so i picked that up too.

what do you guys know about alberta premium dark horse?

we have it here but they renamed it dark batch for stupid americans.

anyway, is it worth trying?

okay, the second go at bernheim is what i remember. wheat whiskey does not have a plasticky taste at all like the washington wheat did, that had to be a bad batch or that's bad whiskey.

it's sweet and light, but it's a lot like regular bourbon. i actually think four roses yellow label might even be lighter and that's supposedly a heavy rye bourbon. they're both "soft" anyway. so it's not like this is a totally different experience than bourbon.

so anyway, it's good. i really like it. i think i used to be under the impression that a wheat whiskey might have a ton less burn to it than bourbon or regular whiskey. i guess it has less, but not like a totally different sensation.

medium kind of finish. easy to drink.

i guess i'll eventually buy a bottle of makers mark since that is a wheat whiskey too. it just never excites me when i'm in the aisle to pick makers mark.

and someday, the elusive wl weller wheat whiskey. someday.
