okay, the second go at bernheim is what i remember. wheat whiskey does not have a plasticky taste at all like the washington wheat did, that had to be a bad batch or that's bad whiskey.

it's sweet and light, but it's a lot like regular bourbon. i actually think four roses yellow label might even be lighter and that's supposedly a heavy rye bourbon. they're both "soft" anyway. so it's not like this is a totally different experience than bourbon.

so anyway, it's good. i really like it. i think i used to be under the impression that a wheat whiskey might have a ton less burn to it than bourbon or regular whiskey. i guess it has less, but not like a totally different sensation.

medium kind of finish. easy to drink.

i guess i'll eventually buy a bottle of makers mark since that is a wheat whiskey too. it just never excites me when i'm in the aisle to pick makers mark.

lots of rye, which I find bitter but thats the trend I guess. We only get it now and then as a specialty. reminds me of the lads crowing for Crowns golden

okay, now this is the first time i've sat down with gentleman jack where i wasn't at a party and had already drank a bunch of beers and stuff.

so i remember thinking "wow this is really smooth" but that's about all i remember.

so here i am pouring myself a glass and thinking about how much i really don't like regular jack daniels and how the green label turned out to be a fickle beast with each of the two bottles i had tasting completely different.

but you know what? this is actually kind of amazing. first of all, i don't normally pick up a ton of the scents people talk about but this jawn smells strongly of bananas. like those dried banana chips or something.

secondly, i don't think i have ever had a smoother whiskey in my life. actually i'm pretty sure of it. there is no burn to this. like zero. it's unreal how smooth it is. also, that banana comes through a little bit in the taste too.

it's good. there's not a ton going on with it as far as the complexity you hear the snobby reviews talk about, but it's definitely a good taste and extremely easy to drink. like "this is dangerous" easy to drink.

only complaint i could see someone having is that it's so smooth there really is no punch to it. and a lot of people drink whiskey for that punch i guess.
