oh yeah. about this.
it's good. i don't know if it's worthy of all the accolades i read on the little card stuck to the shelf, but it's definitely really good for a $30 bottle of whisky.
apparently some big important guy named it world whisky of the year for 2016 (which isn't even halfway over by the way but whatever).
i'd say it's a very good whisky in 2016. |

WL Weller 12yo available in Ontario again. Picked up a bottle...at $36.95 you can't really beat it for a quality bourbon. As I've mentioned before I think, it's the closest thing the average bourbon drinker can get to Pappy Van Winkle these days. Basically the same mash under a different name and aged a few years less...and hundred of dollars cheaper. Highly recommend if you enjoy a mellow wheated bourbon at 90 proof. |

I don't know how accurate this is without an E rating attached, or at the very least a color code. |

That link can't be serious with that price.
Further edit...I was mistaken, the bottle at LC right now for $36 is the Special Reserve....the 12 yo is actually $45...still, damn good price. |

Davies, that online whiskey shop is out to lunch. Or shysters.
There are bourbons in there that I've purchased over the last 5-10 years in the $40-$60 range and they are asking absurd prices. Ex: Elmer T Lee @ $169 (who on earth would pay that for a middle of the road bourbon?)
Old Forrester Birthday Bourbon for $399??? I have half a bottle at home right now...I'd sell it for $200 in a heartbeat if anyone was ignorant enough to purchase.
Russel's reserve for $600?????

That's pretty much my cutoff too.
Back when Pappy 20 y/o was available in the States...like actually available not go on a waiting list for 10 years available, I was paying about $100ish US/bottle.
I spent $129 on a woodford reserve master collection 4 grain like 5 years ago.
But yeah, typically unless we're talking George T Stagg/Pappy 20 I'm not going over $60 very often if ever.
That online shop basically bought up the last few bottles of some decent bourbons that are not currently in production and asking an arm and leg. |
