yes

alot of the rye in Canada until recent years was 80 proof garbage, pretty much scoffed at in the whiskey world as brown vodka - only good for mixed drinks.

in the last 10 years or so distillers have started to capitalize on the small batch craze that saw bourbon regain popularity, which was based on the single malt craze in scotch.

the top one is mixed with cola.

There's only two acceptable things to mix in your bourbon (besides ice and sweetener) and that's mint or bitters. And I doubt anyone's going to make a good bottled mint julep or old fashioned.

each would disgust me in a different manner.

i guess in those countries they're big on mixing gross drinks so there was a market for this but i'm not mixing a bourbon i like with anything.

pretty much have to let em know, most places put way too much ice in...although i will give the hipster joints a rare bit of credit, they tend to get it in this case.
