I've had both the special reserve and the 12 y/o before. the 12 y/o is excellent - its basically pappy van winkle 20 y/o but a bit younger. lots of oak/caramel to it, pretty mellow wheat flavor. The special reseve is like a neutered version of that. decent sipper.

i just opened the crown royal vanilla that i got for christmas and i can't drink that. i'll have to dump the whole thing. sickeningly sweet. it's like drinking aunt jemima.


also, two good men died tonight. the 1792 and the woodford reserve bottles both went down tonight. please keep them in your thoughts.

these trump tariffs on bourbon in effect now? I feel like every bottle at the LC went up like $3.00 in the past month

so tonight i am having another bourbon that comes in a cool bottle. willett pot still reserve. it comes in a bottle that looks like a genie bottle but after a while you realize it's shaped like a pot still! it's genius!



i honestly didn't have a real ton of hope for it when i received it last christmas. i was enthused to try something new but i wasn't sure if i had ever heard of the bourbon.

anyway, it's 94 proof which i think is more than that hot stuff from last night so i was expecting trouble but it is very smooth for its octane. it has a burn, don't get me wrong. and it's a burn that stays with you looong after the sip. but somehow it just works. it's still totally drinkable and enjoyable.

it shocked the poop out of me with my first sip. it's maybe a spicy one where i go more for a sweet one but this is a really impressive bourbon. and i have to admit it's still very sweet, they just somehow find a way to make this all work together really well. very interesting. there's a lot going on with it. flavors are kind of flying everywhere.

i really like this. i hope it's not too too expensive because it's a bourbon i'd like to try to have a bottle of at all times, you know the kind i mean?

i've killed many good men over the last week and i am revisiting this primarily out of necessity.

for some reason i really notice a caramel thing this time. stong AF. like those cubes wrapped in clear wrappers. the smell and the taste.

still, speaking of stong AF, it's still super hot but whatevs.

and speaking of those dead soldiers, in the last week or two i've recycled woodford reserve, 1792, four roses small batch, and crown royal northern harvest rye bottles.

it's sad when they go.
