you see what had happened was.. i was in a liquor store after work one day buying beer and when i got toward the front of the store i noticed there was a line that ran all the way down an aisle and wrapped around the back of the store. i immediately put my items back and got the (frank) out of there. on the way to my car i noticed there was now a line just to get into the store and convinced myself that the world was in a panic. everything must be shutting down again and i have somehow missed the memo. but now i still needed beer. i found a liquor store .4 miles away in my GPS. dirty with high AF prices but what other choice did i have? i went there and voila, no lines. still convinced the world was shutting down, i not only bought the beer but i bought the cheapest drinkable bourbon in the store (since i know it's all way overpriced there) just to make sure i had extra bourbon for lockdown. and that was this, which is a bourbon i keep going back and trying, year after year, but i just always find it unremarkable. makers unremarkable.

and it was the same thing this time around. i mean, i'll drink it but it's really not great to me. and you'd figure it'd be my, like, go-to every day jawn because it's a wheat whiskey and all. but no, it is just kind of there to me and i never find it smooth like other wheat whiskeys anyway.

another thing that bothers me is their insistence to go with the "whisky" spelling. (frank) you, and you can spell that any way you want.



i have had the makers mark 46, and can tell you that iirc it's night and day different and 27,059 times better than this.

it's a cocktail bourbon, not a sipping bourbon. And yes, it's overpriced because of the bottle-top novelty.

it's nice. i went with no ice, so maybe it's just that but it went down more american whiskeyish than rye but whatever, it was still really good. i need to fux with it a little more to know where it falls into the ryerarchy, but i think it's maybe a notch above the knob's creek.

extra points for the fancy ass bottle. there's little detail work all over the glass. the three diamonds from the label are even secretly etched into the bottom of the bottle. they didn't need to do that and hardly anybody is going to notice. but they did do it and i did notice.

I have "unboy'd" my boy. When I posted the Buf Trace and Eagle Rare the other week I sent a pic to him. After breaking each others balls, he sends me a pic of his closet and he has a ton of stuff. I see he has multiple bottles of Blanton's (6) and refuses to sell me one
