okay, now this is the first time i've sat down with gentleman jack where i wasn't at a party and had already drank a bunch of beers and stuff.

so i remember thinking "wow this is really smooth" but that's about all i remember.

so here i am pouring myself a glass and thinking about how much i really don't like regular jack daniels and how the green label turned out to be a fickle beast with each of the two bottles i had tasting completely different.

but you know what? this is actually kind of amazing. first of all, i don't normally pick up a ton of the scents people talk about but this jawn smells strongly of bananas. like those dried banana chips or something.

secondly, i don't think i have ever had a smoother whiskey in my life. actually i'm pretty sure of it. there is no burn to this. like zero. it's unreal how smooth it is. also, that banana comes through a little bit in the taste too.

it's good. there's not a ton going on with it as far as the complexity you hear the snobby reviews talk about, but it's definitely a good taste and extremely easy to drink. like "this is dangerous" easy to drink.

only complaint i could see someone having is that it's so smooth there really is no punch to it. and a lot of people drink whiskey for that punch i guess.

alright. it's nice. nothing super special. but it's a good taste and it's another light easy to drink whiskey (apparently, this isn't a bourbon even though every store stocks it with the bourbon, not the whiskey), which it should be as it's only an 84 proofer.

i'm also a fan of the bottle, although the packaging is a little gimmicky with a tin cup top that actually screws over the cork. i've learned gimmicks are usually a foreboding sign of a bad drink, but in this case i think it's just something they did for the name so whatever.

it would be remiss of me not to mention there is a little bit of a minerally aftertaste but not necessarily in a bad way. some people are into it and some people aren't. it's nothing that will stop you from drinking it and it's only in the finish which isn't super super long anyway.

a special thank you to incomart for telling me about this whiskey.
