i've made a terrible mistake.



i wanted to try an irish whiskey that wasn't tullamore dew or bushmills and this had pretty good reviews so i bought it.

it's peaty like a scotch and i'm pissed about it.

well the longbranch is very delicious.

it's super smooth, especially the first few moments before any spiciness kicks in. it has a little punch but that comes more towards the end. in order, it's softness and smoothness, then vanilla sweetness, then some juicyfruit gum (!), and then the spice.

the spiciness sticks around a while after the sip. but it's inoffensive, enjoyable actually. it's like black pepper, not jalapeno.


i think it was $39 so i'd buy this again. totally worth that.

was just curious. never a bad time to get high

as soon as i took a sip of the redemption rye i knew something was up. i'd had this before but i didn't recognize the taste. turns out i'd had redemption's high rye bourbon a few years ago and misremembered it as their rye all this time.

so it turns out i'm trying 2 whiskeys for the first time today. that's fun to me! like, "what a day!" kind of fun.

this is obviously spicy all the way through but it's still pretty sweet.

amazingly, this is also reminiscent of juicy fruit gum somehow. i guess a lot of whiskeys that have a stone fruit kind of thing going on have this taste but juicy fruit never came to my mind until today.

this is good enough that i just texted some interested parties regarding it, but it's nowhere near as good as the redemption bourbon, which i remember as a revelation. especially at its price.

anyway, like i said, the expert user review is "spicy juicy fruit". so if that sounds like something that interests you, get you some. i'm pretty sure this was only like 20 or 25 bucks.

so it's good. this bottle will be empty sooner than i wish it would be for sure.
