i also have not had it yet but hear nothing but good things. i have not had the 4 roses small batch select. i bet it's delicious, right? 4 roses is so good to us.

i've had the cheap Richardel whiskey and the rye years ago. it wasn't the worst i've had. i'm willing to try this bourbon of theirs when it comes out.

having a little of the old grand dad 114 and i must say now that i'm used to it i really do love it.

one ice cube. not a yuge ice cube. like a square one. that made it perfect for me. sweet like cola. and then a little bit of cinnamon jolly ranchers (if anybody remembers those). it's a serious bourbon. it means it. but just a little ice (or water, i guess) makes it doable. i still think there's more hair on my chest after every glass than there was before.

not sure if we talked about this but i picked up a bottle of jack daniels rye after reading some article and it actually is good. nothing nuts, but good. it's got a nice little weird sweetness, like rc cola.

i bought the michter's "US-1" small batch. i was expecting something better than this. it's good but it's rude. the finish is long and strong and down to get the friction on. but it burns a bit more that is enjoyable.

i tamed it with an ice cube and it calmed the (frank) down a bit. you could taste the flavors a little bit more but the burn is still there and it is the finish - a long, slow, stupid burn.

anyway once you can taste it, it's cinnamon and oak and maybe raisin (?) and a little bit of the sweeter spicy taste that i like from buffalo trace and bulleit, which is like a black tea sweetness.

so if aging is what mellows whiskey, this tastes like it hasn't been aged at all. i'll drink it, but by the time i get it where i probably want it i'll have put too many ice cubes in it. it'd be watered down in a matter of minutes. i guess water would be a better way to go.

i am disappoint.
