I'm so sick of the "R*******" controversy. I don't believe that it's as offensive as the proponents seem to think it is. However, I don't believe that it's "no big deal" or a "name of pride" like the naysayers contend. I couldn't care less if they change the name or not, but it seems that every article I read on the issue, the consensus among Native Americans is "who cares? We've got bigger problems to worry about." - buffalofan19
Fixed that for ya
The team was founded in 1932...why has this suddenly become a problem now? Did someone speak out or did the media decide they were due for this kinda controversy so they just picked Washington and went with it. |

Usually the two key ingredients for a miserable collapse in any sport really.
On a side note, I think it's funny that my time spent as a sabres fan has made me mildly interested in the bills. Friend of mine had a similar deal with Minnesota and it's sports teams.
It makes me wonder when you adopt one sports team do you adopt all that cities teams. - Sabresfan-365
Well, most fans are multi-sport fans. If you deal with fans of a team in a multi-sport city, chances are they are fans of another team in that city. Plus, we've been talking about the Bills ad-naseum over the past month or so.
In a situation like this, it has to be equally as intriguing. Most of us think, and I would go so far as to say "hope", that the Sabres are going to be atrocious this year. Meanwhile, the Bills have at least claimed to have gone "all in" this year with trading away their first, and everybody auditioning for their jobs in front of a new owner. |

This isn't the first time a Washington team has been "encouraged" to change its name. The NBA's Washington Bullets changed its name to the Wizards because some people believed it condoned violence, and alluded to the fact that DC had, and still has a high crime rate. All in all, it sounds like someone with too much time on his hands needed something to make a big deal about. |

It is for sure, the one thing that has me interested is that for a long time both fan bases cringed at the status quo for both teams (I mean that as in the un willingness to change and any sort of progression). It's nice to see the change they've both gone through. Sure they're both a ways a way but it sure as hell beats the bills-sabres tandem from 5 years ago. |

sports news is the king of this, combine it with any sort of discriminatory spin and you've got the holy grail. |

He only threw 22 times because his coaches don't trust him, which isn't anywhere near unwarranted assessment by any means. Look, he won today, and that's good for him.
Nothing he did today convinces me that this team ever wins a championship with him under center, even under the so-called "Baltimore Ravens mold", which is what I ultimately want to see. - buffalofan19
He only threw 22 times cause the bears could not stop the run.. 190yards rushing on 33 attempts !!! And a avg of 5.8 yards per carry. It would have been foolish to pass more then needed... |

i am going to say this is all politically driven.. this nation has become more polarized on race/discrimination over the past lets say 6 years.. the people that seem to be banging the drum the most are the people that get something out of it financially.. whether it be the media or politicians.

Is there a code of conduct off the field in there contract?
Has there been any criminal charges against him? Looks like assault to me |

An owner has been "suspended" for 6 games for a DUI. All NFL employees are subject to some sort of code of conduct now, yet punishment is as lame as NHL suspensions |

Prater gets 4 games for having a few beers at his house
rice knocks her out and drags her body face down and gets 2 games
I think the NFL is worse then the NHL regarding suspensions

i know who that owner is .. i forgot about, considering it has been in the news not sure how..
thanks, i was just curious. I just would think criminal charges would be the better way to go after these punks then suspensions |

Absolutely. This is all about driving people against each other for the sake of driving people against each other, and profiting from the aftermath. |
