Get off Girgensons's d***, jesus christ LOL

He did great , and will be a solid player but come on. There are much better 2nd line centers for Buffalo.

- Reeder17

appreciate you reading the piece...should things unfold like most in buffalo are expecting, he'll be probably be dropping down to third-line center after the draft this year

Serious question, what's the difference between EJ winning games by letting his defense and run game do most of the work and the Holy Doug Flutie doing the same thing ?
- sbroads24

My answer is the same as the question last night about Jay Cutler: I want better than both.

I wasn't implying race. I'm being serious, Flutie took us to the playoffs with a top 10 D and a top rushing attack, EJ could be in the same boat. Yet everyone over rated Flutie
- sbroads24

flutie didnt come in after a 20 year of suck campaign though.. i think that might have somethign to do with it.. I know you were not implying race, i was just being a douche

Me too, I wasn't a Flutie fan at all. But with a 2nd year QB I'll take a playoff game for the first time in 15 years.

Flutie won a lot of games like EJ did yesterday though, made a play here and there, capitalized off of turnovers and had a great rushing attack. No I'm not saying we will make the post season yet but I don't mind winning games like we did yesterday. Eventually I'll want better (IF EJ doesn't continue to improve )

Flutie was a feel good story.. a little man that wasn't supposed to succeed in the NFL as a qb.. he was also more of a polarizing character with a more mature approach since he was older.

EJ is more the size of a prototypical QB and does have the public appeal that i think Flutie had at the time.

Think about how much everyone LOVED gerbe..

Agreed, and that's sort of my point. Talent or production wise Flutie didn't exactly set the world on fire. I think if EJ continues to be smart and make a few key throws we will have a similar outcome

We have several critics in here of Manual , who claim their disdain for his skill set comes from intense film study of his play at Florida State . Yet Homie who lives in Florida and claims to have watched every Florida State game while Manual was there says he has a good skill set and there is no reason he should not succeed at the NFL level . So with the combination of Homies observations and the Bills coaching and scouting staff . I find it hard to believe he is as incompetent as some in here would claim .

He should have never of seen the field last year and should have been holding a clipboard . Adjusting to the speed of the game at this level, That is managements fault . Maybe he is not a future hall of fame inductee . But lots of non Hall of fame inductees have had good careers in the NFL . I am just growing tired of the constant bashing , even to the point where the team wins . These naysayers have to drown out anyone that was just happy with the victory.

The body of work is far too small to be making the absolute judgements some are making . At the end of this season maybe you can come up with a more educated analysis.

Only thing I disagree with is him holding a clipboard. QB's (especially 1st rounders) should play right away. Now that doesn't mean they walk on the field in their prime either

i don't watch much bills anymore.. but what i saw of the game yesterday it looked like they might be a .500 team, we will see. EJ seems to have some of the things needed he just needs to put them together.

Slow clap. . . . . . . . .

Manuel was rushed into the starting lineup when Kolb was hurt, earlier than the franchise was ready for him to start, and it's been a seat of the pants thing ever since then. This off season, they didn't move to find a stop gap to permit him more time to develop. Instead, every single move the team made was to solidify his position as the franchise guy, right here, and right now.

There is a lot riding on his success, and the article that someone linked earlier, about how he fired up the entire team with a speech Saturday night, makes it sound like the team is buying in.

Let's follow the example of those who are closer to the situation, the professional talent evaluators who committed to Manuel, and the professional athletes who are allowing him to lead. Let's see whether he can do it, and hope that he does instead of feeling some bitter victory in the opportunity to say "I told you so."

IMO yes. Coaches hate rookie QB's. For some reason they would rather watch guys that have been mediocre their whole career continue to be mediocre, than watch a kid grow on the field and take his lumps.

imo, they have a lot of talent on offense and defense...one thing they have this season that they didn't last--save for the o-line--is depth...it's probably what got them the win yesterday

disagree...especially if those lumps come from getting beat up on a bad team...take a look at the career of Cleveland's tim couch...

let the journeyman take the lumps while the rookie learns the game

if your O-line blows you can't put them in.. you can't take a player learning the game and take away half his time.. that is sure to mess him up and/or injure him

Sure, but also look at Peyton Manning. He and the Colts were awful his first year. He turned out fine.

It would be one thing if you were sitting behind someone like Favre like Rodgers did. It's another thing to sit when your the better option at the moment
