After Getzlaff, the Ducks have a guy who had two more points than Brayden Schenn, and who hasn't broken 50 points in 3 years. Columbus has a beast in Johansen, but Anisimov had less points than Schenn & I'd rather have Couturier than Dubinsky. And Carolina? Really? Eric & Jordan Staal? Eric is good, but Jordan over Schenn & Couturier? Nah.

Boston is stacked. LA, absolutely. Colorado even with the loss of Stastny is set with their kids. Dallas looks deadly with Seguin & Spezza, and obviously the addition of Stastny makes the Blues really deep. I'd put Pittbsurgh in there ahead of the others, and Richards helps Chicago.

columbus has johansson and then dubinsky then asimov lsted as there 3, not sure how they use them.
the stall bros are a nice 1 -2 they beat us last year

i wouldnt take any of those guys over what we have, what i am saying is if g goes down besides vinny who can really assume the top center position? yes you can put scheen or coots there but idont think they are seasoned enough to produice there for any lenghth of time

i know 2-3 years from now our centers will be the envy of the league, i made this statment because feemor said besides the pens no one has better depth at center then us in which on paper is not true.

I didn't say that; I said the Pens are the only team with two top five centers. Jordan Staal is not a replacement if Eric goes down, and Brad Richards is sure as hell not a replacement if Toews gets hurt.

I wish the league would look at starting the season in the last week of September or by October 1st at the latest. That way they could have the Stanley Cup Finals in late May/early June before the NBA Finals starts.

Yes, Anaheim has Getzlaff and Kesler. Kesler's last season over 50 points was three years ago and he had 2 more points than Schenn and 4 more than Couturier. He's hardly a number one center.

Neither are Anisimov or Dubinsky. Or Jordan Staal for that matter. I'd say there's few teams that have better depth down the middle than the Flyers.

If he can't play LW, give Jake a shot at it. However, Simmonds is should be heading to the net - it shouldn't matter what side he plays.

Personally, I want to put Jake with VLC. Put Simmonds with Giroux, Keep Read with Couturier...and then mix and match to fill in the rest using those pairs.

Since, we know the Jake/Giroux chemistry is there and should be able to go back to it... It'd be worth giving it a shot.

agreed. it's morbid fantasy, i think. kind of a like the dream i had early this morning about water skiing in some type of container jumping through a giant penne noodle with a girl i had a crush on in the 8th grade. we never landed. just kept going. then a whole bunch of other nonsensical poop happened after that with other people. man....i need help.

There's no way they will move Couturier out of the center position.

Why? If he'd make a better winger than moving Schenn or VLC. Why not give it a try. Especially, if you want him to pick up his scoring. And, if he scores a goal a night at wing, wouldn't you rather him there? You can always move him back.

Because they have nothing available that is anywhere near as good as he is defensively at center and can make Couturier the second line center, increasing his offensive opportunities and give him a better winger along with Read...say Simmonds.

Then you have:

Schenn-Giroux-Voracek
Read-Couturier-Simmonds

as a top six, you can give Lecavalier two decent two way winger who skate well in Umberger, Raffl, Bellemare or Akeson and have a fourth line with two of those four, Laughton at center and Rinaldo as a spare or one of the wingers.

If you want really Couturier to pick up his scoring then stick him on the top PP unit. His ES scoring was fine last year, and should be better this season if the perpetually banged-up Downie is replaced by anyone but Rinaldo.

Personally, I'm more concerned about the team winning games than boosting his offensive stats. Couturier is already one of the best defensive centers in the league so sticking him on the wing would be insane.

I'd even move G to the wing before I'd try messing w/ my best (only) defensive center.
