What an idiot. Goes from being a super star to a black listed player. Now that he's been cut, any team that picks him up looks like a bunch of scumbags.
Which means he'll be a Cowboy within the hour. |

I wish the league would look at starting the season in the last week of September or by October 1st at the latest. That way they could have the Stanley Cup Finals in late May/early June before the NBA Finals starts. - Feanor
This.
Charging full price for preseason games is another travmockery that needs to go away as a side effect of this change.

What I think ends up happening here, is public pressure gets ramped up, and the Ravens just end up releasing Rice. I can't imagine any team picking him up either. He will end up being black balled from the NFL. - PLindbergh31

They cut him for PR issues. Otherwise he would have been cut months ago. The video hit the web today & he's cut because of the reaction to it.
And guess what, he will do the Tony Dungy redemption tour and be with a new team next season, at the latest |

Because at that point, they were 100% unaware of what domestic assault was. The Ravens were under the impression that it was some kind of illegal musical instrument. Today, they found out that it was for spousal abuse and acted with the dignity that a team which employs murderers is known for and quickly cut him. With a severance package. |

Well if he was a hockey player, the Pens would bring him in to center Carcillo and Downie |

Whatever team signs him (if any) is gonna have every women's rights group in the country beating down their doors. |

He was released because they don't want to deal with the fall out of employing a batterer of women. You think Steve Biscotti the Ravens owner wants people picketing outside his stadium? It's pretty much common sense after seeing this video that he wasn't going to play again this year at a minimum. |

If you want really Couturier to pick up his scoring then stick him on the top PP unit. His ES scoring was fine last year, and should be better this season if the perpetually banged-up Downie is replaced by anyone but Rinaldo.
Personally, I'm more concerned about the team winning games than boosting his offensive stats. Couturier is already one of the best defensive centers in the league so sticking him on the wing would be insane. - Feanor
My point was never say never. And, that it wouldn't hurt trying him there. And, to your point - winning games is more important. So, if moving Couturier to the wing would get them there... well. Do it. All I'm saying is Berube should keep his mind open to the line up.
Here's my reasoning...
If he's so good at defense as a center, he's not going to lose the ability to play defense if you move him to wing. Many teams line up some pretty good offensive lines versus Giroux's line, having Coots there won't be insane. (If Giroux gets kick out of the circle, Coots takes the draw).
Last year, both VLC and B.Schenn looked lost on wing. Would Coots be better - who knows? If Coots was on line 1 wing... That solves the problem of does VLC or Schenn play wing. VLC and Schenn both could play center at 2 and 3.
And, I'd only keep him there if other pieces came together. Both Bellemare and Laughton are potential two-way strong defensive forwards. Does a line of ??? (Maybe Raff)-Laughton-Bellemare form a better as a better shutdown line - in whole - than Read-Coots-Downie.

No no no...this commendable team formerly of murderes and drug dealers has nothing but the utmost respect for the law and for all victims. They simply were unaware of his actions until today, at which point their horror forced his removal from the team.
The ONLY explanation. |

"Ray, look, we know you've had some issues. But since the late 90's, our criminal to civilian ratio has really gone down, and we think you'd be a good fit as a potential felon. How does $20M guaranteed for 10 years sound?" |

While I would normally laugh at this given the history of the Cowboys with guys like Pac Man Jones. The Cowboys already have Demarco Murray and Rice was already on the down slope of his career....a pretty steep down slope actually. Rice may never play again. He certainly wont be a starter.

The backlash the Eagles took for Michael Vick is child's play compared to the backlash the team that even considers taking Ray Rice will get. |

It would hurt because he's played his whole career at center and is great there. You'd have to be a moron to even consider moving him to the wing. |
