Seems to be the thought of many - ob18
Gretzky was considered too small, but he was only 18, and he was 6'0. Johhny Gaudreau is already into his early 20's and is my size. Granted, he's in much better shape, but still...that's damn small. |

If you are stuck in Uverse hell like me , please take 1 minute to fill this out and request the NHL Network.
They have the NHL Network already in their drop down menu for this survey so hopefully they are close to adding it back on . |

I doubt it. For the Flyers maybe we see an invite or two. No one likely to make the team but maybe some guys that will push the younger players to work harder. Maybe Derrick Morris on D. And while I'm sure this wouldn't be popular I wouldn't mind bringing in Todd Bertuzzi on an invite. |

There is no doubt in my mind the NFL saw this. I can't believe that Joe Blow from East Bumble(frank) if he was up at 6am this morning saw this before Goodell.
The callousness of Rice standing over her, and dragging her like a sack of potatoes suggests to me, that this is old hat for him. Can't imagine someone doing that and not freaking out over what they had just done. - PLindbergh31

likely. i just don't like the makeup of this D core. having AMac as a first pairing Dman will be unbearable, regardless of where you fall on his trade/signing. |

You have to pick your poison. Today they scrimmaged and Coburn and Schenn were a pair. If that's the case, we might end up seeing Grossmann-Streit, MDZ-AMac as pairs.
Now, if MDZ gets back to his form of a couple years ago and Grossmann & Streit play like they did down the stretch, that might not be too bad. I don't mean to sound like a wide eyed optimist/orange glasses wearer, but there is some ability there. |

They are light years ahead of where they were two years ago. They were sorely lacking puck movers and went out and got Streit, AMac and MDZ. And they didn't give up a whole ton of assets to acquire any of them. Not to mention drafting Morin, Sanhiem, Ghost and Hagg.
To be honest I'm more worried about our LWs than our D. |

I'm not worried about the wingers at all, really.
I think that they have several options that could make LW solid, if not a strong spot. If Berube went with the 10-28-93/24-14-17/18 or 12/40/12 or 42 set up, I think that the wings would be fine and they'd have a good, solid and productive top 9.
The defense's biggest need is an all purpose, number one guy. If they had that, the defense would be really solid looking. |

I think more than anything the team could use an infusion of elite talent. After Giroux, and a borderline Voracek currently its a lot of secondary.
Hopefully Couturier helps bridge that gap, along with some of the prospects they drafted in recent years. They need the war-horses, and while talent is important, this group could use some more grit/intensity throughout their game. They are far from a bruising team.
Being hard to play against is such a cliché term, but that's one big thing I don't see with this crew. Putting more speed in the line-up will help with that, and hopefully its a focus in the next few years with team development. |

Elite talent always helps, but how many truly elite guys are there? LA has two, maybe three elite guys (Kopitar, Doughty arguably Quick). Boston has two or three as well. The only top team that has more than two or three is probably Chicago.
The key is to have the right pieces, that compliment one another and good players that can step up (Justin Williams, for example) and luck. |

even with as many weaknesses as the flyers had last year i honestly couldve seen them making a finals run if they won that game 7 |

Oh, yeah...the East was wide open. The Rangers were probably the worst 1st round match up, outside of Boston. Honestly, that's still the case this season, at least on paper.
The east could be very wide open in the playoffs. |

So let me get this straight. They played a scrimmage today, with no coaches, just players getting together for a little open hockey session. They split the defenseman to three per team. Luke Schenn paired with Braydon Coburn. Guess what. THATS GOING TO HAPPEN WHEN THERE ARE ONLY THREE DEFENSEMEN ON A TEAM AND YOU NEED TWO AT A TIME ON THE ICE!!!!!!!!!!! At some point during this scrimmage Luke Schenn was paired with whoever the third guy on the team was today and so was Coburn. Just another case of Panaccio making a story out of nothing.
