Nah more of a response to people discussing the Sabres outlook for tanking this season. Basically just saying that I think they probably won't get last.

It's a double edged sword though. The size will create space for him, but it also forms what will probably be a mediocre line in terms of skating ability and creativity (particularly passing).

I imagine they'll be good on the puck in the offensive zone but Zemgus is going to spend quite a bit of time picking up the slack for those two in the neutral and defensive zone.

Probably not, but on paper it certainly looks that way so it's understandable why they are the temporary favourites for that.

Oh I don't doubt his individual creativity, he does have a 25g season in him, but his centre and right winger not so much. He really doesn't have the skill level to carry a line offensively the same way Im not sure Girgensons can carry that line defensively.


My point is it's a high risk high reward line, they could put up big numbers offensively and really be a difference maker. Or they could be an absolute nightmare and have the worst goal differential of any line.

Girgensons isn't a bad skater. He's not Ennis, but he's got speed.

Compared to Florida and Calgary I think the team on paper looks pretty good. I like the additions of Gorges and Gionta. Relative to Florida and Calgary the only regression I see the Sabres making is not improving enough in net. I don't know a whole lot about Neuvirth or Enroth but at first glance that seems like a very questionable tandem to me.

I honestly just wanna see the Nucks tank so I can watch McDavid next year.

If he is healthy I think he has a lot more starts. He has the tools to be a decent goalie.

Florida has Bjugstad-Huberdeau-Barkov down the middle. Gorges and Gionta are nice leaders, but statistically they are basically irrelevant other than having gorges allows myers to be a bit more offensive.

Calgary I could see being worse but they put up a good fight last year so who knows.

I won't be surprised if they are not last and I won't be surprised if they are, but that's the nature of rebuilding team. Even if they're not "tanking" its still a sub par team so it could go either way really.

While yesterday's game wasn't anything spectacular statistically, he managed to help get the job done. The whole team did, and for the most part, that's what you need for a team to be successful from week to week. I thought it was a step in the right direction against a team that had a much better record than we did last year.

Was it perfect? No. But the only stat that really counts is the number in the W column, and they managed to put a 1 in that column yesterday.
