Great write up, Bill.
Simmonds to me represents everything Philly hockey should be. No quit, Hard working blue collar hockey. No fear getting dirty on the boards or in front of the net. Sticks up for teammates. Can take a puck off the face in practice, get stitched up, and still fight that night. Such resiliency.
I also think defensively he's better than many give him credit for. |

It would be good to see Simmonds being recognized and rewarded for his efforts. |

Simmonds reminds me a lot of Gary Dornhoefer, both in build and in playing style.
And for you younger fans, thats a big compliment! |

Put him on G's wing. Watch him score 40 and G get 100 points.
Put Voracek on VLC's wing. Watch Vinny score 30 and Voracek get 50 assists. |

I think G would also take significantly less forearm slashes if Simmonds was on the ice as well. |

Simmer is probably my favorite player on the team.
I love how he won't just skate away if someone gives him a cheap shot ... he'll turn around and go right after the guy.

I'd like to see Wayne Train get the "A" on his jersey. He deserves it.
And Stew Malgunas. That is a name I have not heard in a long time.
He was always more willing than able as an NHL hockey player. Much like many of the Flyers on those early 90's teams. |

Simmonds is a PP assassin. Here's to hoping he continues to grow and improve his two way and neutral zone work |

I think simmer has done a lot to earn the 'a' another good candidate is Voracek.
I also think losing Timonen might be good for the team in the long run. He's so good that it's easy for his teammates to get complacent.

Should be no brainier. Wayne deserves it and IMO is very underrated in outside fan bases. People are starting to realize he is good, but he has become a dominant player within the front of the net and along the boards in the offensive zone.

Love all the Simmonds love!
As already mentioned, he is "the perfect Flyer" and to me an obvious choice for Assistant captain. Easily my favorite Flyer after G.
I have some doubts about him playing LW with G and Jake though.
He is a top PP forward but don't see him as a prototypical 1st line winger, yet.

The Flyers rookies get one game against Caps, but other teams actually play in rookie tournaments where their young guys get to play four games.

It would be nice if the NY/NJ teams plus us, the Caps and Boston or Carolina could make up a local six-team tournament. |

Agreed. If it comes down to him or Streit, I hope they give it to the longest tenured Flyer in Coburn. He's deserving of it. |

I'm on Plavix and bruise like a champ from just a blocked shot so I know just how dangerous it would be for a NHL player to play on a blood thinner. Timonen will be greatly missed
Stewart Malgunas.....blast from the past. Stew "borrowed" by sunglasses at the Flyers carnival and I never did get them back. |

Agreed!
I'd be happy with:
Schenn-G-Simmonds
Raffl-VLC-Jake
Umberger-Couturier-Read
Bellemare or Rinaldo-Laughton-Rinaldo or Akeson
IR-White,
Waived or carried as a 14th forward-Rosehill, depends on if they are going with 7 or 8 D.
