I'm on Plavix and bruise like a champ from just a blocked shot so I know just how dangerous it would be for a NHL player to play on a blood thinner. Timonen will be greatly missed
Stewart Malgunas.....blast from the past. Stew "borrowed" by sunglasses at the Flyers carnival and I never did get them back. - nastyflyergirl
IIRC, Malgunas was actually seeing some top pair minutes for the 93-94 club. Good lord did that D suck!
Clarke had his faults, but he has to get huge props for how quickly he rebuilt that D! Within a year, he had brought in Haller, Dykhuis, Svoboda, Desjardins and Therien. By the time the playoffs started, Yuskeyvich was the only holdover from 93-94 still playing in the top 6.

I'd be happy with:
Schenn-G-Simmonds
Raffl-VLC-Jake
Umberger-Couturier-Read
Bellemare or Rinaldo-Laughton-Rinaldo or Akeson
IR-White,
Waived or carried as a 14th forward-Rosehill, depends on if they are going with 7 or 8 D. - BiggE
I understand the logic of splitting up G and Jake to different lines.
I also don't think Berube is going to split them up.
Pretty sure it will be Giroux and Voracek together.
Couts and Read.
After that who knows.
What Berube does with VL should be interesting. |

My logic is as follows:
Giroux is a world class talent who will put up numbers with any good wingers. If they played with Giroux, I could see Schenn putting up 25-30 goals and 55-65 points and Simmonds putting up 30-35 goals and 60-70 points. Plus, Giroux would still play with Jake on the PP
Jake, at ES, would be the perfect winger for VLC and Raffl provides hustle, grit and defensive awareness on the left side.
Umberger-Courturier-Read would be an excellent shut down line that can score and a 4th line featuring Laughton, Bellemare and either Akeson or Rinaldo is certainly an upgrade over last year's 4th line.

I think, after nearly a decade of being a Flyer, and skating on the top pairing for much of that time, Coburn deserves the A.
No offense to Streit, he's a class act, but he's barely been here a year.

Please send this post to coach B.
I'd like to see BSchenn play wing with G.
The scariest thought I have is that if VL playing center with Jake who is their best winger doesn't produce, he will likely have zero value and have to be an expensive buy out candidate.

Length of time on the team should be a criteria to get a letter.
Only saying that I think Streit would be a good veteran leader.
Coburn makes sense too. No problem with either guy. |

My big prediction is that Laughton starts in the AHL for a month as a extended look. No harm giving him top line minutes and evaluating his game vs men. This puts Raffl at 4C until someone else disappoints like Akeson, PEB, or even rinaldo, which more then likely someone will be out of place on coots or VLC line |

Agreed.
That's not a knock on Streit. A guy is a leader or he's not; a letter doesn't make or break that. I suspect Streit is a leader regardless of whether or not he has a letter. |

I think you're underestimating how important Voracek is to Giroux in terms of getting the puck into the offensive zone and keeping possession. He's a better skater than G, and much better than Simmonds.
Voracek and Vinny should be at opposite ends of the ES TOI/G table. So they shouldn't be playing together regularly. |

this is why Berube keeps G and Jake together
I think the coach has to go with the line up that gives them the best shot at winning
Putting JV with VL will help VL but could hurt the team

If Lecavalier is healthy and playing well, he should be among the leaders among forwards in ES TOI/G. Like any player, his play will and should dictate his icetime. |

Well if Lecavalier isn't playing with their best winger and doesn't produce, will that change he value to other teams compared to having the same results playing with Voracek? |

His value to other teams right now is very low as we have seen this summer.
A trade could not get done.
If he has a better season this year, with a year less on his contract his trade value goes up. If he plays this season as the second line C, with good two way forwards on his line this would be for VL the optimum scenario. If he gets to be the 2nd line C and has a difficult year, I don't think he will get any interest from other teams in a trade.
