The NHL has itself to blame for that. While showing events like the World Juniors, Traverse City Tournament, Memorial Cup, etc. are nice, it's the most amateur looking of all the networks of the four major sports by a mile. It's largely for that reason that the NHL Network is the only one of the four major sports that is either carried on only the highest tier of every cable and satellite provider, or not carried at all. The NFL Network, MLB Network and NBA TV are all carried on either the main packages, or on the less expensive sports tiers. There's no reason why the NHL Network couldn't be there as well. The league needs to invest in that channel a lot more.
