Penalizing diving with fines will have the Sedin sisters crying poor by the end of the year.
- Hawksfan74

IMO after the 3rd Diving infraction, suspensions should be involved. These fines would be like getting a $5 parking ticket. Sometimes the risk of parking without paying is worth the risk of a ticket.

Getting rid of the trapezoid and widening the ice surface would both be good things. There would be more offense in both situations IMO.

I guess that you didn't get to watch most of the Olympics. Teams would score and collapse around their goaltender and play for a one goal win. It did the exact opposite, it made for less scoring.

I don't like shootouts, but at least the spin o rama was neat to see when used in this setting. Oh well. Look I posted without a Gif. Cookie please.

That's going to be tough to judge in my opinion.
- jaumiller

Actually it won't matter, it'll be easier to call. Now it doesn't matter who touches it. The puck will always stay in the zone on a deflected shot attempt.

Edit....what Carcus said. I missed that before I posted.

I don't know how the NHL can pretend they care about injuries one day and then widen that trapezoid of death.
The league should be tracking just how many injuries happen in the no touch area as a result of the goalie not being able to play the puck.

Also the new out of bounds rule is probably the stupidest rule I've ever heard and has massive potential for abuse. Not to mention it completely changes the fundamentals of the game. Why do we need 10 rule changes every year just for the sake of change?

Widening the ice surface might work but not lengthening it

Finally... spin-o-rama is gone.

Not sure why it was ever allowed, as it clearly is a stop in the forward motion of the puck, which is the rule to begin with.

Now to fully get rid of the stupid trapazoid.

Agreed! The NHL is the only sport that changes their rules every year. Why not just leave the game alone?

I think the punishment for diving should involve the nhl paying Twitter to make #PlayerXdives trend in the cities of the home and away teams of that night's game.

Honestly, if the nhl keeps drawing attention to diving it's only going to be confirming that it's a league of divers and therefore harder to take seriously. Hockey and soccer, two foreign sports with a sophisticated culture of diving.

I don't like the out of bounds rule...I feel like there should be some penalty for hitting the puck out in the offensive zone...basically every stoppage of play results in the face off staying in the zone unless what? The offence shoots it directly out with no contact anywhere?

Also the expansion of reviews seems very vague and not entirely sure what it consists of but it would be nice if goalie interference would be reviewed. I think any time the puck goes in they should be able to review it. It's frustrating seeing goals taken away when the replay shows otherwise and they just can't review it....we have replays? Why would something be reviewable?

As for the guy still complaining about the det and la thing...honestly they can't review if the puck went out. Imagine if the puck touched the net slightly and no one noticed and play carried on for 2 minutes and then someone scored...should they be able to go back and call it off? I do agree it's different because it went off the net and directly into the net basically but still I believe that's why the call is non reviewable

You could have called Max Lapiere a diver. You used to be able to call Burrows a diver. You can shout from the hilltops that Kesler is/was and will be a diver... but the Sedins? You don't know anything about diving.

No major league sport changes their rules as much as the NHL, then again, many do not consider the NHL as a major league.

Trapezoid... the pure aesthetic of the lines on the ice is visually confusing and somewhat ugly. Got to be something better.

Spin-a-rama... Again is the NHL a major league sport? They take years of advertising the shoot out as a chance for players to be creative. They even devote the NHL Skills/All Star Weekend to highlighting it.... then punish players who have created the perfect scenario. What a Bettman Special!

And if they are worried about the fact that players, during a spin, may no longer be moving forward.... a dodgy question at best.... why not allow it during a penalty show!?!

Lastly, what the hell will Mayson Raymond do now?

The spin-o-rama should have never counted - most times the puck moves backwards..count the spin o rama's and we might as well let them bury the rebounds too!!!

I HATE the switching ends for overtime. I have to pay a premium to sit in the end my team attacks twice. My season ticket cost is not going down, but now, I no longer get to watch my offensive players in overtime, I have to watch the opposition. I paid more for the ability to watch my teams players... This doesnt seem like anything that will actually help anything....
Overtime was exciting as is... And Im tired of people whining about the shoot out. DEAL WITH IT. Soccer is the world's most popular sport and it has an even more insane way to decide tournament/playoff games with its "kicks from the mark". And regular season games just end in ties with no OT. So what again is your problem with the NHL system????
