For all the speed, puck skill and offense Gostisbehere brings, he's still got questions on his defense and size. He'll probably be the most exciting player of the group, but I'm looking for Ryan Suter or Ryan McDonagh. I think Sanheim or Morin have a better shot at being that than Ghost does.
That's not a knock on Gostisbehere, as much as it is praise for the other two. |

I could see Ghost possible being like Mark Streit except with a higher ceiling. Streit was a top 4 defenseman easily in his prime. Still is to a certain extent. I agree that Sanheim and Morin have the possibility to be better overall players than Ghost. |

That's all true, and he probably has the highest absolute ceiling of the bunch... but I'm really worried about his puck skills. He still doesn't execute plays with the degree of precision and consistency necessary to survive/thrive in the show. Hopefully more marinating in the Q and the A will help him develop that, but as of right now, he's still kind of iffy w/ the puck, even in practice situations. - Tomahawk
Can any fan honestly say they've seen Morin enough to know that? The Flyers wouldn't have drafted him with the 11th pick if his puck skills were that suspect. |

So much of todays game is predicated on moving the puck quickly. I feel like Ghost will excel in this area and help prevent the forecheck from happening a lot more often than other defenseman. |

He probably could. He's probably got the best chance to unseat a vet at camp.
Can someone explain to me how Hagg's contracts can "slide" if he plays in the AHL but a guy like Ghost can't have his slide? I assume it's some European rule, I just don't understand it. - jmatchett383
No such thing as a players contract sliding if he is assigned to the AHL. |

Well, they drafted him hoping he would get better. Alls I was saying is that he's not quite there yet. |

If there are a lot of injuries I could see them calling up Hagg, but only for 9 or fewer games. Alt or Ghost they could call up as often as they liked without burning a contract year. If Hagg was fantastic in the NHL as a call up they might keep him up, but I don't see that happening as a 19 year old.
I think Morin will spend the whole year in Junior, until hopefully becoming part of the Phantoms Calder Cup winning team. - Feanor
Ghostibihere is automatically going to burn off a year on his EL contact by playing with the Phantoms.
To me the most likely call ups are Alt or Lauridsen. |

That's quite different from the previous statement. I think the raw skills are there, but just need to be refined based on what I read on him. Nik Grossmann has built a solid NHL career with his puck skills. Let's hope that Morin is a better player then that. |

Yep, you made it sound like Morin is so bad with the puck he may not be able to "survive" in the NHL. He could probably play in the League right now. |
