Yep. I hope it ends up residing in every one's head today. I want everyone at work to be walking down a hallway going "Ice, Ice baby to go"

I'd have a lot more faith is Ghost was 6' 185 lbs.
- MJL

He's 5'11" 170 lbs right now so I don't think the inch would make much of a difference but the 15 pounds (of muscle) would be huge. Either way, I think size can be overrated at times. Unless the player is really small or really big/fat, it probably doesn't make that big a difference.

I don't think it is even a question that being up here now, with NHL level nutrition and training, that he will put on 10-15 lbs of muscle.

Kimmo Timonen survived for years under 6 feet tall. So did Rafalski. More worried about his strength (in terms of size). The trade off for smaller guys is usually developing a well rounded game and adding strength to their core

I agree. Height is not really relevant unless the guys is under 5'10". Strength is the key and in today's NHL, speed. Ghost will be better suited for this NHL vs 10 years ago.

A player's gonna be a player, no matter how big or small they are. Theo Fleury was 5'6 (listed generously) and thrived in the clutch n' grab era.

I think where size comes into play is at the margins... smaller dudes don't get summarily dismissed for bottom-pair D and 4th-line roles anymore.

Imagine if they crack down on penalties again in 15-16 to increase scoring like they did in 05-06. Ghost could score 60 points if he's running the powerplay by then.

I agree. The natural size might not be there but there's no reason he couldn't become a relatively strong player. It's up to him really.

I don't think they'll crack down again like they did after the lockout. That was partly to show the players that all the clutching and grabbing won't be tolerated. Now that it's not as prevalent, the league can let more things slide. I think there will be more hitting from behind type penalties though.

I believe height is relevant, but it doesn't mean a 5'11 defenseman can't be successful. He just needs to make up for his limitations by being strong in other areas.

If Ghost was 6'2, I can guarantee he wouldn't have been around in the 3rd round

Height is relevant, just not as relevant as other areas or as relevant as it used to be, IMO. If there are two players, one 6'2" and one 5'10" with the same skill set and potential, I would take the 6'2" player but if the 5'10" player is slightly more talented with a somewhat higher upside, I'd probably take him.
