To be honest, I was expecting more from Washington. Burakovsky was very noticeable in last year's game, but no one on their side really stood out to me. |

Really impressed with the skating of our defensemen. Morin, Ghost, Sanhiem all look extremely comfortable getting back on plays and made it look easy.
I'm kind of seeing the frustration with Hagg. I would have included him among those other three but it looks like he is getting caught second guessing himself at times. Hopefully he can connect with the right coach to help work that out.
Aube Kubel looks a lot more promising now than his highlight reel at the draft let on. Couldn't take much from the rest of the forwards from what I saw. Straka, Alderson, Leier and Fazleev all looked good. Matt Hatch looked like he was kicking in at a gear higher than most of the guys out there. |

Bulldog Peterson- looed good to me, no?
Nice effort by the fourth line, Hatch looked fast and Goumas was working hard (not just the goal and almost goal). Alderson looked a bit sloppy to start the 3rd but over all how did people think he played? |

They had a pretty poor game. I'm not too familiar with their prospects but I was not impressed. Flyers D men did a good job of moving the puck but the Caps neutral zone play was extremely weak. |

Thought Hagg looked really really good in the 1st. Snappy, laser passes right on the tape... felt like he looked calm getting the puck out of trouble for the entire game and played really steady shut-down D.
Pettersson's puck-moving looked sharp for a guy w/ no supposed O upside... maybe b/c he's used to playing on SHL "all-star" difficulty... I dunno. His mobility and decision-making seemed really sound.
Sanheim was a beast... jumping into the play, leading the rush, being a fantastic safety valve on D. Ghost was in similar beast mode... he was on a whole other level (save for that one gaffe).
Morin... most will like that he showed moxie, but I wanted to see more hockey from him. I don't think he attempted a forward pass until late in the 2nd. A couple of weak wristers on net, a couple of reverse plays in his own zone... there wasn't much else there. The one time he tried to join the rush, Bowey put him on his ass. Defensively, he was OK... got beat a couple of times to the outside, but nothing that became too dangerous. |

Madison Bowey looked awesome. Had that big hit on Morin, really solid on both sides of the puck. He's basically like Hagg with more offensive upside. |

He was ahead of the rest of the caps, but had little impact on the game as a whole. A shot wide here, hitting Morin there, and a whole bunch of ho-hum for the rest of the game. Out of Hagg and Bowey, Hagg showed more offensively.

Agreed. From what I saw Sanheim and Gostisbehere looked exceptionally good, and Hagg seemed to be very sharp and smart. Pettersson similarly impressed as a very solid, smart looking player.
Morin showed his nasty, but I too was hoping to see more "hockey" from him. For all the glowing reports from rookie camp, I think he might have let his inner beast loose today to the detriment of his overall game.
