That's Black Friday, and the Flyers play the Rangers that afternoon. Thank goodness the Phantoms game is at night.

According to Columbus Dispatch reporter Michael Arace, Davidson told reporters in a scrum that the team has three separate offers on the table for [Johansen].

One deal has been offered worth $6 million over two years, another for six years, worth $32 million and a final for eight years, worth $46 million.

And still no deal

IMO

In 2012 if Teravainen wasnt taken 2 spots before Laughton we would have picked him.

In 2013 if Nichushkin wasnt taken 1 spot ahead of Morin, we would have picked him.

In 2014 if Milano wasnt taken 1 spot ahead of Sanheim we would have picked him.

what I'm saying is, I think Flyers brass drafts best player available, and our prospect core could have looked a lot more forward heavy had those drafts turned out a tiny bit different...

- MrBigglesworth

Fair points. 20/20 hindsight and all that too. Personally what I would have done at the time assuming some ability to trade up would have been Maata, Pulock (assuming Dallas would not have traded away Nichuskin) and Milano (I think a trade was more viable last year).

In hindsight, I might have taken Maata, Mantha and Sanheim.

Winnepeg has had some good picks recently with Trouba, Ehlers, and Morrissey.
- aflyerpower8

I really liked Ehlers. Would have loved for Flyers to have traded up for him.

I wish the split squad game tues would be at different times. Like a 330 and 700 puck drop. In a perfect world what pairs and lines would ppl like to see in these games... Assuming everyone plays.

D
Coburn - schenn
Streit - Morin
Amac - ghost

MDZ - Alt
Grossman - Sanheim
Hagg- Schultz

As for forwards it's hard but guys I'd like to a lot of and put in big roles include:
Laughton
PEB
Akeson
Raffl
Alderson
Cousins (really like what i saw again from him yesterday and want to see how he plays as a complimentary player on a line)
Straka (as for possible top 6 call up in case of multiple injuries like Akeson)
Couturier (see if he has improved as he looks bigger to me)

Guys who I don't mind seeing rested:
Giroux
Vinny
Umberger

I'm not sure it's wise he's putting negotiation numbers in the media, but RJ seems to be asking an awful lot for a guy who's had exactly one big season.

Sign of Kekalainen/Davidson getting desperate for leverage. Having the kid hold out would put a real dent in their PO chances... and that team can't afford to lose those gate receipts with payroll ballooning to $60M+.

I would've thought the BJs hold all the leverage, what with him being an RFA. It does seem the reverse is true, though. Those offers aren't stingy for a guy who's only had one big season, imo.

I really have no qualms about the 2014 and 2012 drafts... coming out w/ Laughts and Sanheim at those mid-late positions is pretty incredible.

2013... I think they could have gotten more there. If they really dead set on Morin, trade back. If not, they could have taken any number of players who were safer + higher ceiling guys: Zadorov, Morrissey, Mantha, Lazar, etc at #11.

Hasn't it been documented somewhere that Montreal was likely going to take Morin if Philly did not?

http://www.thehockeynews....rrels-on-johansens-agent/

“He’s a good guy and he’s a good player, but you can’t sit here and have the (Steven) Stamkos and the (Jonathan) Toews and the (Patrick) Kane (numbers) thrown at us,” Davidson said. “He’s a good player, but he’s not Stamkos and he’s not Toews and he’s not Kane, at least not yet. He’s not.”

They had the agent on TSN radio and he basically said that they would be willing to sign long or short term at the right number but he's looking at the centers that were signed over the summer by contending teams and has used several of those as comparables. He isn't signing what he considers a bad bridge deal. Sounds like they're not close at all. Doesn't sound like he thinks all the sound bites from Columbus is a bad thing.

He implied there's no deal on the table above 3.5 per

Yeah, but they were picking at 25. You have to figure somebody between 12-24 might have been interested in moving up.

Johansen is nuts. He's had one good year. And now he thinks way too much of himself. I hope the Bluejackets stick to their guns.

I thought Montreal was moving up to 13 or 14 to pick him or something if he was there

I'd rather they just take the player they spent time identifying as the guy they want and move on rather than playing the trading game and guessing the lowest they can get to to still take the player. Make up the difference in picks with better drafting in the other rounds, which they seem to maybe be on the right track of

I wouldn't swap Morin for Lazar or Zadorov. Mantha would be nice with our lack of wing prospects.

MacDonald got that. Orpik got more.

Methot played 21:45 a game and was even on a bad defensive team while scoring 23 points. That's the market.
