Long season. It's going to be full of "told you he's good" one week, and "told you he sucks" the next. - buffalofan19
That's if he sucks. I was told Orton would be starting by now.
I also don't buy that there is going to be an inevitable game where he has to throw for 350+ yards and a bunch of TD's for us to have a chance. |

He's been okay for the past two weeks. He's had two games where he's simply had to "not lose". The defense has been playing very, very well, and the running game has been outstanding so far. The real test will come in a week where one or both of those facets are not playing as well as they have the past two weeks. |

In that scenario I would expect us to just not win. Unless the other team beats themselves with turnovers. If EJ can improve on his game from the first two weeks, we can be competitive and make playoffs. Got to be in it to win it. |

1 pick and 1 sack with a plus 70% completion percentage is better than just ok.
It's not his fault he hasn't had to do more.
He also has responded well in both games when the opposition has scored, lead 2 TD drives. |

Also, I'm not anointing EJ Manuel a franchise QB, but let's call a spade a spade, he's been nothing short of good so far, and that's been the plan all along, good QB play with a strong run game and strong defense. Teams win like this every year
Joe Flacco has made the playoffs 5 times with this exact method. Check out his stats when he has to throw 30+ times, I'd be willing to wager they are pretty sub par |

Yes. 375 passing yards in 48 pass attempts is 2 weeks is "okay". The playcalling has been an indicator that they still don't completely trust him, especially in the red zone. And that's a reputation he's earned, at least partially. He's also earned the right to have more responsibility placed on him in the past two weeks for sure, but until he actually wins multiple games for them, which, as we both have stated, he hasn't had to do yet , but will, my mind will not be changed about him. |

This team has yet to prove they're as good as the Ravens in any of those years. They obviously have an "incomplete" grade this year as it's only two weeks in, but I don't think Joe Flacco gets this team to the playoffs either. |

I love how we can pick which stat is important. Now that his YPA is at a very good number, it's the amount of yards that matters now.
Maybe if the Colts played it safer with Andrew Luck they would have a W by now. Bills and Manuel have been nothing short of good, hence them being 2-0 |

Ok, we are talking about the last 2 weeks. The Buffalo Bills and EJ Manuel have been good. Were not talking about last year or any other. They are winning games like other good NFL teams do.
There is this notion that you need your QB to (on his own) win 10 games for you each season. It's just not true |

I still don't think his YPA is going to end up being that good either when all is said and done, especially if the playcalling ends up going the way it does the entire year, and they take away the short passes the way teams started to do in the Gailey years when they figured out Fitzpatrick had trouble with mid-range passes. Like I said, he's been okay, and he's earned the right to do more. You might call performances like that good. I want better, and always have. |

Sure, and again, we aren't talking about anything else but what has transpired the first 2 weeks.
He was criticized for dumping the ball off and being inaccurate, so far he hasn't done either, and if Grimes doesn't make a fantastic play on Watkins his numbers are better. |

Look, so am I. I'm just going to get carried away and say that the concerns that have amassed over an entire season last year are completely gone because a player played okay over the first two weeks, which are often a crapshoot throughout the NFL. |

Just for fun I compared the two - first 12 games
Flacco - 202 of 331, 2,276 yds, 12 td / 9 int, Rating of 80.3
Manual - 212 or 354, 2,347 yds, 13 td 10 int, Rating of 80.1
As for throwing 30+ times - it comes down to level of competition. If either player is playing the Jaguars they could toss the bean 40 times and probably complete it a minimum of 30 but if they are playing the Seahawks they may only complete 20 of them. The Seahawks are going to stuff the run and force you to throw where as the Jags couldn't stuff a turkey most years let alone a running or passing game... |

Neither player's failures were results of not being handled properly. They simply just weren't very good NFL quarterbacks. |
