Philadelphia Flyers @NHLFlyers
The #Flyers will hold a press conference today at 3:30pm at Flyers Skate Zone with GM Ron Hextall and Kimmo Timonen.
EDIT: leight - BulliesPhan87
I think it'll be to say the timetable for his return is unknown but that he's doing well. |

Per the Flyers, there will be a press conference at the Skate Zone regarding Timonen. Not sure if you heard...
Edit: At 3:30 - NickTheKid87
Why do I think this is either really good news, or really bad news, with the odds on the latter?
Retirement? |

The bottom line, whether or not the mistake is drafting & developing a balanced team or handing out a truly awful contract that got erased by a mulligan, is did the team learn?
One could say that in the case of drafting & developing Holmgren did eventually correct his course. In the case of the Bryz deal being bad, it's debatable. He immediately used the cap space to sign long term deals with two veterans whose status by the end of the contracts would be questionable.
Mistakes are not a killer, failure to learn from them are - Jsaquella
Good points.
I think the CBO was less of a mulligan and more of something Snider and Homer pushed for in the CBA negotiations. To me that IS taking personal resposibility and correcting a mistake. |

Well it's not all doom and gloom -- Sid and Geno are both missing the start of training camp. |

Jason Myrtetus @jasonmyrt
I am hearing Kimmo will announce his retirement from the NHL today. Blood clots that went to his lungs and on blood thinners made it happen
take it for what it's worth |

That would be a shame. He'd be doing the team a real solid there, but not sure why he would walk away from 2M dollars. I wonder if the clots were in anyway caused by playing Hockey? |

Would his contract be void if he couldn't be medically cleared? I was thinking he might retire. I am sure the Flyers will do him a soli keep him as a scout maybe in Finland or some player development coach. Depending on where he is going to live. |

Hard to say, I don't know a heck of a lot about blood clots. If he does walk away from the money, it speaks to his character.
There's two guys I truly regret didn't get a ring in Philadelphia: Kimmo, and Roy Halladay |

Every time one of these things comes up it's always a bunch of nothing. Maybe that means this will be different.
Which reminds me, remember Pronger's awhile back? When the beats were speculating that he'll make a comeback and that's why he wasn't retire? THey had no clue how the CBA worked with 35+ deals. It was embarrassing. |

Supposing no trades and they wanted to max out prongers ltir as much as possible... Wouldn't it be more beneficial to have kimmo retire on October 2nd? Just thinking aloud here. |

I don't have the exact numbers but I don't think so. I think the League would smell something fishy if they did that. |
