That presser seemed to be less optimitsic then everyone has been saying. It seemed a more of probably not playing so please don't keep pressing us on this matter type thing

I guess they had to have that press conference to head off the "Where's Kimmo?" questions, but really, it was what we thought. They are gonna wait on the slim chance that the clots are gone.
- johndewar

Yeah, I read that as, "Well, I'd like to play without dying, but that's not looking probable right now."

“My desire is I want to play. But the chances of me playing are really slim. That’s a fact. But I’m ready & waiting to see.” -Kimmo Timonen

"If there’s a little chance there’s a safe way for me to step on the ice, then we have a new discussion. But we don’t know yet.” -Timonen

Pretty much what I expected.

Like he said, the chances are slim to none. Basically the question now is if they'll ever let him off the blood thinners.
- Tomahawk

I'm guessing Kimmo is gonna be in front of the mics 5 months from now announcing his retirement.

I'm a Celeste man, myself. But no, anything more than pepperoni is pure pizza contamination.

Well, the presser wasn't the retirement announcement I was kinda expecting, but it wasn't very promising either.

I guess all we can do is hope for the best for Timo, personally first, then professionally after that.

- 77rams

That's how i took it. Pretty much just putting it out there so people don't hound them every day about Kimmo. Too me it sounded as if he is done and he kind of knows that.

Ellios is WAY better than Celeste

but to be fair, you can fold celeste pizzas over and it's like a pepperoni pizza flatbread, almost filling the void left after Wawa discontinued this delicious treat

I see that as a long shot considering his history and his family's history with clots.

The Flyers will win a cup with Kimmo, but he'll have to be in the front office or behind the bench now.

I agree. I'm not an Eagles fan, but yeah, he was the man. Lindros, Richards, Utley, Giroux, and Dawkins.
- jmatchett383

Ok, you asked for it...well not really, but here goes anyway, my 10 favorite Philly athletes of the last 20 years:

1. Brian Dawkins
I will never forgive the Eagles for letting him go, he should have retired a Bird! IMO, in my lifetime, only Reggie White was better. What made it worse, is that when they let him go, they didn't have squat to replace him with. Can't wait to see him in the Hall of Fame

2. Chase Utley
All he does is play his tail off and keep his mouth shut, and I love it!! He needs to retire as a Phillie and he is, hands down, the greatest Phils 2nd basemen of all time.

3. Kimmo Timonen
Love the Finnish warrior and I will miss him terribly. I just hope he gets well soon and can enjoy his life. However, knowing the heart this guy has, it wouldn't surprise me a bit to see him back on the ice by next spring.

4. Roy Halladay
Before time took its toll, the big guy was just a treat to watch. Want to teach a young kid how to pitch? Show him films of Roy Halladay. Lastly, all I can say is PERFECT FRANKING GAME!!

5. Eric Lindros
Yeah, it didn't end well, but man, in his prime, he was just a beast!! I'm glad the hatchet has been buried, it was awesome to see him in the old timers game! The best combo of skill and brawn seen in the NHL since the heyday of Gordie Howe.

6. Rod Brind'amour
Yeah, I'm still mad about the trade and I liked Primeau!! Like Clarke before him, ROd the Bod gave it all every second of every shift of every game. You can never have too many Rod Brind'amours on your team!

7. Eric Desjardins
The guy oozed class and was the backbone of the Flyers D for nearly a decade. He rarely made a bad decision with the puck and was basically never out of position. Having to take the "C" in the middle of the Lindros mess could not of been easy, but Rico handled it with consummate grace.

8. Carlos "Chooch" Ruiz
My favorite Phils catcher of all time. He is beloved by every pitcher he has ever worked with and that says a lot. Chooch is a joy to watch and his career is a tribute to never giving up and working hard.

9. Aaron McKie
Hey I'm a Temple grad, and while I don't follow the Sixers that closely, McKie always stood out as a class act who played the game the right way.

10. Sean Couturier
Yeah, he hasn't been here long, but I just LOVE the way this kid plays. I hope he remains a Flyer for a very long time and I think he is going to have a monster breakout year this season.

Just missed the cut
Wayne Simmonds
Chris Pronger
Derian Hatcher-the guy played on one freakin leg!
Simon Gagne

So regarding Doc....

I had hockey practice at 4 in the afternoon that day. Since it was a playoff game, I do believe it started at around 3:00. I was heading to my dad to the rink, listening to it on the radio...by that point it was like the 3rd inning, and he walked a Red on a 3-2 count. Me and dad jeered...."THERE GOES IS PERFECT GAME. WHAT A SCRUB. JESUS CHRIST."

Sure enough...that was all that separated him from one!!

I wish Harry could have seen his perfect game

^^^That was on during what I believe was game 1 of the Cup against the Hawks. I was actually watching the Phillies game and was running around my couch for good luck for the last 8 outs.
