Foligno's Top end is 3rd line and worst case 4th line, which if he ends up the latter his salary needs to drop considerably or just move him.

Stafford is a solid number#2 right winger with a legit #2C. Dude gets a bad wrap for someone that averages 20-29-49 over the course of his career. Ya he's streaky but wasn't Vanek too?

I saw something different in Staff once Nolan was around awhile. He's definitely appears ready and willing to take over a leadership role.

Stafford, Myers, Ennis, Hodgson all get bad wraps for this organization being a complete disaster for the last 3-4 years. They were put in roles they either didn't deserve, wasn't good enough for or just not ready for.

It took more than those 4 to get it done. We just didn't have enough goal scorers.

I think the upside for Foligno is third line, 15g and 20 assists with possibly a little PK or 2nd power play unit (in front of the net). Ennis was the key to that line with him and Stafford and it would be interesting to see a line of Stewart/Ennis/Stafford. Potentially, Steward and Stafford could both put in 30 goals each...

Let's discuss some hockey then.

Nolan was on WGR yesterday morning. They asked him about the captaincy. He said he knows who his leaders are. They won't be announcing anything for a while, but he made it sound like he already knows who's getting what.

Who do you think he's referring to?

With the money they're paying him, and his pedigree, I have to think the captain is going to be Gionta.

As for the rest, it sounds like it could be any two of Stafford, Ennis, Weber (yes, Nolan likes him a lot), Myers, and Gorges.

They guys on WGR seem to think it'll be Gionta as well. Moulson had an A before he was traded last year, so it would probably be a pretty good bet that he has one this year too.

I love that he's back. I'm not even worried about the money they'll be paying him at the end. I still think it was a good move.

I'm fairly certain Nolan was a huge reason he wanted to come back in the first place. I think they both have a mutual amount of respect for each other, so to me, he's got an A. He's the only person I can definitively say will have something.

I think Gionta is probably going to have the C. I think it's a smart move. He's a veteran guy. He's on a deal that's not super long, but not super short. He was the captain of the Canadiens before he signed here. It all makes sense, but you never really know.

The one I can't target, is the 2nd A. I'm not sure if he'll give it to Staff and we'll have none on any defensive players or if they're going to rotate the As around a bit.

I still hate the term, but I'm over it. It's done. He's here. It's not the biggest problem with this team.

The guy I'm most interested in, and not necessarily from a leadership perspective, but just an overall perspective is Meszaros. The guy's career has made a sharp turn south, but Tim Murray has given him a golden opportunity to resurrect it, while giving him a nice pile of cash as well. Granted it was a while ago, but when that guy was playing well, he was very, very good. It's far from a guarantee, but I think ultimately Murray is hoping that he ends up being the guy that takes up most of the ice time and duties left by Ehrhoff.

I think what I like most about Murray is that he's to the point. He doesn't sugar coat things. He tells everyone how it is. It doesn't matter if it's a player, the coaches, or the media. I think that it will garner a lot of respect from the media around here, since they all thought Darcy was a huge joke. I also think that the players will respect it as well. Not everything in professional sports is rainbows and gumdrops. There are bad things too, and Murray acknowledges that.

I like it too, but don't be surprised to see it change. Right now, he has a clean slate, with little expectations, and very little pressure. It will be interesting to see how he handles the media if (hopefully when) this team becomes a playoff contender again, and people start expecting things from this team. It happens all the time in every sport. Just look at the difference in the way Doug Marrone has handled the media this season from last season. Last year, he was basically an open book. This year, he's been as cagey as all get-out.

Mezaros Is a wreck in his own end. He's probably a better offensive player than Ehrhoff is, but in his own end he's not reliable

He admitted earlier this year that he shouldn't have been as open about the injuries to players and stuff. So I think he's a bit gun shy now. He's basically overcompensating for what happened last year.

While Murray is pretty open about stuff, I think he knows when it's not appropriate to say stuff, because he's told the media no comment about things since day 1. I think he's been around long enough to know when it's ok and when it's not.

Even if he changes a bit, I still don't think he'll ever seem like his head is in the clouds like Darcy did.

They just need to make sure they put him with someone who's solid defensively then. There's ways to rectify that. Maybe Pysyk will be a good guy to have back there with him then. He'll give Meszaros the freedom to do what he needs to offensively without sacrificing the defensive side of things. Plus, Pysyk has a really nice outlet pass, so that could be helpful to Meszaros as well.

If Pysyk and Myers weren't both a RH shot, I'd like to see them together as well.
