Obviously he's no Giroux but I think he could fill in admirably as 1C for a bit if he needs too. Jake would have to do the Lion's share of puck carrying but I think we could get by for a little while. - JonnyHammerstix
Exactly.
Schenn could either move back to center and they could move another winger up to help Vinny with controlling the puck.
They have options. I just wish they didn't have to exercise any of them.
And truthfully, if this was gonna happen, I'd prefer it happen now, rather than closer to the home opener.
This franchise is well overdue for some good luck. |

Schenn-Vinny-Voracek
Read-Coots-Simmer
Umberger-Laughton-Akeson
Raffl-PEB-Rinaldo
Coots and Laughton Line have to be air tight on the D. You cab shift Raffl in when needed. Then hope Vinny line scores alot and produces on pp.

I don't think they're gonna make Vinny play wing.
They'll make Brayden Schenn play wing. |

Absolutely. My gut tells me that he'll be fine but you don't take unnecessary risks with your franchise player. And honestly him sitting out a preseason game or 2 isn't necessarily a bad thing. With G you know what he is, he has a defined role on the team and battling no one for position in the lineup. This will give another kid like Laughton some extra reps in games to show what he is made of. |

If they have to go into the regular season with Giroux on IR (god forbid!), I would try these lines:
Raffl-VLC-Voracek
This gives Vinnie exactly what he needs to be successful. 2 wingers that can fly and carry the puck, one who is a very good playmaker and one who is strong defensively and can work the corners.
Read-Couturier-Simmonds
Seems like they are already planning to go with this line and I see no reason to change it. Odds are that this line would get the most ES ice time.
Umberger-Schenn-Akeson
If you are going to play Schenn in the middle, you need at least one winger who can work the wall and is solid defensively (Umberger) and one who can make plays with the puck and set him up (Akeson)
Bellemare-Laughton-Rinaldo
Perfectly acceptable NHL 4th line, IMO.

Kinda more interested in B Schenn becoming successful, than pandering to an aging veteran who has lost a few steps. |

Bill Meltzer: Meltzer's Musings: Timonen, Training Camp Opens, Quick Hits - bmeltzer
I'm gonna keep saying it. It doesn't matter how big or small the injury, Giroux is too heavily relied on for this team. The idea of losing him is scary. The Flyers need another impact player in my opinion.Whether it's from within the organization or outside, they need a guy who can somewhat handed the offensive load without Giroux on some nights. Take Forsberg playing with Gagne and Knuble for example. If Forsberg was unable to go, I still had confidence in Gagne playing with Knuble and anyone who was in between them. Simmonds is a really good complimentary player but will not lead the charge. Read and Schenn I feel can make things happen but I'm not sure can lead the charge. Voracek is are second most gifted offensive threat but I feel he needs help.
I will not say Bobby Ryan is that guy because I don't see him leading the charge but he's better then what we have in my opinion and probably the only player of impact available. If other players become available I most certainly would look into them. You won't wanna give up assets but I would consider walking away from one of Hagg or Gostisbehere, a high draft pick and a roster player to worry a little less.
Feel free to rip me. |

I have no problem trying to land another superstar forward, but I just don't think Bobby Ryan is that good nor worth giving up a top prospect, a roster player and a 1st for at the present time. |

I'd be find with flipping Schenn and VLC in my lines. I think they are actually, style wise, similar type players.

I have a reeeeally good feeling about this guy. From everything I've heard about him so far I think he's going to be a very good addition for the Flyers this year. The Flyers actually have the pieces to put together a really good 4th line for a change. |

I agree. I think we all need to relax here. If Giroux is out it probably is'nt long and I'm sure Vinny OR Schenn could fill in for a few games if need be. Im not worried. |

I actually love the look for that fourth line of Rinaldo, Bellemare and Akeson. I would really like to get Powe into the mix over White but I'm unsure if Powe is what he was back in 2010. |

I'm kind of caught in the middle, but lean towards using Schenn. However, if Lecavalier is ever gonna perform at a level near his paycheck |

Exactly.
In a perfect world, it would certainly be nice to have Bobby Ryan on the roster. However, even if they could figure a way to fit his 5.1 million cap hit onto the roster, he's just not worth what it would likely cost to trade for him.
Now going into next season, if they can move VLC, and if they feel the need to upgrade on the wing, sure, perhaps they go after him in free agency. Now however, is not the time. |

Sorry, misunderstood.
Either way, I very much doubt, at this time of year, any team is going to be looking to trade a superstar forward. |
