I agree. I think we all need to relax here. If Giroux is out it probably is'nt long and I'm sure Vinny OR Schenn could fill in for a few games if need be. Im not worried. - GOA88
Much better to totally overreact, and set the record for fastest bail out on a team by a fan, in NHL history, then to be optomistic! |

I'm gonna keep saying it. It doesn't matter how big or small the injury, Giroux is too heavily relied on for this team. The idea of losing him is scary. The Flyers need another impact player in my opinion.Whether it's from within the organization or outside, they need a guy who can somewhat handed the offensive load without Giroux on some nights. Take Forsberg playing with Gagne and Knuble for example. If Forsberg was unable to go, I still had confidence in Gagne playing with Knuble and anyone who was in between them. Simmonds is a really good complimentary player but will not lead the charge. Read and Schenn I feel can make things happen but I'm not sure can lead the charge. Voracek is are second most gifted offensive threat but I feel he needs help.
I will not say Bobby Ryan is that guy because I don't see him leading the charge but he's better then what we have in my opinion and probably the only player of impact available. If other players become available I most certainly would look into them. You won't wanna give up assets but I would consider walking away from one of Hagg or Gostisbehere, a high draft pick and a roster player to worry a little less.
Feel free to rip me. - SuperSchennBros

I'm kind of caught in the middle, but lean towards using Schenn. However, if Lecavalier is ever gonna perform at a level near his paycheck - Jsaquella
Lecavalier is just not a top-6 caliber forward in the NHL anymore, in my opinion.
There's a role for him as an offensive-minded center for the bottom-6 and on the 2nd PP unit. |

If Giroux is out foran extended period, you're not replacing him. Ice the best team possible and hope he gets well. Not a tragedy if they miss playoffs, anyhow.
That said, without any idea what is wrong, it's silly to speculate that Giroux will be out for an extended period. |

That really depends on what Lecavalier we see. The one from last year, or the player he has been up to before last season. If he's strong, and can regain his form, and maintain it throughout the year, he is still a top 6 caliber player in this league. |

I'm simply hoping playing with more dynamic players will help Vinny's game. I don't see him as a long term option with Voracek & Raffl or whomever |

It's not a question of linemate/situation quality with him... he just doesn't have enough game/wheels/tricks to come out on the positive side against the McDonaghs and Bergerons of the world anymore.
It's no coincidence that the only time he looked dangerous last season was against third-pair D and other teams' 4th-lines.

Meh. No big deal. Probably just being extra special careful with him right now. I bet if this were in the middle of the season he'd be back in a few days |

Who knows if the injury lingers or not, but it sure beats hip surgery.
A bumpy start to say the least between Timonen and this. |

Sorry, misunderstood.
Either way, I very much doubt, at this time of year, any team is going to be looking to trade a superstar forward. - BiggE

That was last season. We'll see about this season. And chances are that Giroux and Voracek are going to get most of the attention from the McDonaghs and Bergerons of the world regardless of how Lecavalier plays. And he was plenty dangerous last year before he suffered the injuries. |

hip, groin, abdominal, none are ideal. Amazing this happens the first 15 minutes of camp in non-contact drills. |

Wayne Simmonds is by far my favourite player on this team. He's tougher, more gritty and has a lot of ability but Ryan in my opinion has the better hands and shot. If you put both these players on one team, I think Ryan would out produce Simmonds. |

If they are serious about making Schenn a wing I would leave him there and move someone else into the center spot for now. Especially if it isnt a long term injury. No reason to get him all confused again. |
