dont mind him as an extra forward. In for Kaleta or Deslauriers when playing a less physical team...
me thinks:
Moulson/Ennis/Stafford
Hodgson/Girgensons/Gionta
Stewart/Reinhart/Foligno
Kaleta/McCormick/Deslauriers
Flynn
Ellis to Capt Roch again... |

He's not going to wow anyone but he seems to fill a role on 3rd/4th line. Easily replaceable sure but as far as bottom 9 forwards go I think he's alright. |

He's very sound defensively, he's fast, and he'll chip in a goal or two. Great PK guy. 3rd liner. He's not going to win games and most nights you probably won't notice him. That doesn't mean he's a bad player though. It's just the role he plays. |

Did I ever mention how happy I am to not have to watch D'Agostini, Scott, Ellis, or Leino anymore? |

Guy always seems to be in the right place.
On a competent team he's a 3rd liner that is a 30 point player. |

People around here need to remember that there is more to being a good hockey player than scoring goals and putting up a ton of points. Guys like Flynn are still a necessity. He's not going to tear it up, but he's not going to hurt you at all either. These guys are the unsung heroes of the league IMO. |

Ummm, are you assuming he's in Rochester all year? Because he's still under contract. |

He should be in Rochester all year. Larsson should and will be called up well before him IMO |

Well, I hate to disappoint you, but I'm willing to bet he ends up here for at least a few games at some point this year. So I wouldn't put the cart before the horse. |

I'll reserve judgement on that.
I mean they were dreadful to watch but I might have been okay with one more year of it, especially if come April we're sitting in 10th or 11th. |

Swap Girgensons and Reinhart and then you have a real line up. I hate how people in Buffalo fall in love with our 3/4th line centers. Girgensons is not a top 6 forward. He is a great player for his role but that role is a 3rd line center.

I think they're going to be more competitive than last year, I still think it's a bottom 5 team. The games should be more entertaining, but I still believe they'll end up on the losing end of them more often than not. |

I can deal with a few games on the 4th line. Anything more becomes painful

I'm not convinced he will be a center when all is said and done. I know that's the plan, but I think he's best served as a top 6 winger that will create space for skilled players.
I know people are probably sick of me posting this, but I really see him being our version of Dustin Brown. |

I'm with you and don't think Girgensons is 2nd line material, however, if Reinhart were to stay, those "protected" minutes on the 3rd line could help more than on the 2nd. As much as the team didn't have great success with these players, look at the likes of Roy, Vanek, Pominville, Afinofenov, etc that thrived on the 3rd line. |

You might be right but as a center he is a 3rd liner. IMO he doesn't have the hands/top end skill to be a top 6 guy but be at the very top end of a 3rd line role. If the plan goes well and we draft McEickel we will be solid down the middle with McEikel Rienhart and Gergensons. |

That's about what i expect from them as well but it makes you wonder if it's worth it. To be a little more entertaining this year but still bad yet perhaps not quite bad enough. |
