There's a fit for every NHL team for Eberle. If the Oilers will give him to the Flyers for free and pick up his contract, or trade him for Lecavalier, I'm sure the Flyers could use him. - jmatchett383
Forgot how tight the cap was, you guys will be compliant though opening day right since Prongers comes off the books?

How do you guys see the top 9 shaping out this year?
Will Voracek play the left side or stay on the right now that Hartnell is gone and Umberger may not be a top 6 winger anymore?
Would there be a fit for Eberle on the team? - ystoil
Eberle wouldn't be a bad addition but for the asking price it wouldn't be wise for the Flyers to make a deal for him. They have other matters to attend to first. |

They'll be compliant and will have about $2M worth of LTIR for Timonen. |

Malkin got hurt while changing Crosbys diaper. I believe Crosby has diapor rash and Kunitz is out because had to apply the cream and is currently seaking a shrink for the horror he was a part of. |

I really dont see the issue here. Ryan can play both sides and by his actions on rejecting a significant contract offer has made it clear he wishes to explore ufa. I also believe he wants to come to philly. I think a contrat of an average 6 mil cap hit is fine and he would be turning down more money as well...a lot more prolly. We have the cap space to do so as constructed now going into next offseason. It wouldnt hurt to buyout/trade one of umberger or vinny or grossman and add a young d to help give us even more cap space going into the offseason two seasons from now with expiring contracts to scheen and coots. I say sign bobby R - jmdodgeser4
Here's some issues:
-Ryan is nearing 30. Many forwards who play his style tend to start to decline after age 30.
-Ryan had a dip in production last season, despite playing with pretty talented players. Even when he played with Getzlaff & Perry, he was a 30-35 goal scorer. Wayne Simmonds had 29 last year, playing most of his ES time with Lecavalier and Schenn. Think playing full time with Giroux can't get him into Ryan territory? He's younger and cheaper than Ryan
-Besides Simmonds the Flyers have other internal candidates who could fill the imaginary hole on Giroux's LW. Schenn had 20 goals in a secondary role. Matt Read had 22 in a hugely defense first role. More opportunity for any of those 3 likely mean more offense.
-It's time to let the valued youngsters the Flyers have step into bigger roles. Adding Ryan is yet another player in the way of bigger roles for Schenn & Couturier. They are ready to assume prime roles for this team.
-Ryan will likely command-at least-$6mm per year and a 5-7 year commitment. That hurts in two years when they have to re-sign Voracek, Schenn and Couturier up front, as well as Raffl, Luke Schenn & Braydon Coburn. If they were to buy out Vinny in the summer of 2016, his cap hit would be $2.916mm the first year and $2.4mm the next, followed by two years of $916K in dead cap space. A buyout of Umberger at the same time would give the Flyers $1.6mm of dead cap space in the first year and $1.5mm the second.
-By the end of a 5 or 7 year deal, Ryan is likely to be a second line or lesser player, while still drawing a large cap hit...or the same issue that people fear now with Lecavalier.
-He doesn't fill the team's biggest need, which is a top pair defenseman. No need to further make the cap situation difficult if you're not filling biggest team need.
When weighing the pros and con of Ryan, I'd have no interest in him unless he came very cheaply or if the Flyers traded Schenn, Simmonds or Voracek for defense help. |

I think they will use Option 2 with both Pronger and Kimmo. On the first day of the season the bolded players will then be demoted to create $1.85 million of cap space, and Bellemere (who is waiver exempt until he plays in an NHL game) will be called up.
OPTION 2: Put the injured player on LTIR on the final day of training camp and, including the injured player’s annual average salary or cap hit, build a roster that exceeds the upper limit by an amount that is as close as possible to the injured player's annual average salary.

Term and cap are concerns, but Ryan actually plays the left side and I have no doubt he would be better on Giroux's left wing than Simmer. |

Ryan might possibly be the most over rated player to never play for the Flyers.
I would much rather see them go after Robert Stevenson. I heard he is a legit top line, pure sniper. He could easily score 40+ with G. |

Simmonds could play the right side with Schenn or Read playing the left and Voracek sliding Couturier's wing to provide a more dynamic scoring presence.
That said, there's several options who could likely match the offense gained by signing Ryan that cost less and are already on the team.
Tossing a huge deal at Ryan is something that I hope the Flyers have moved past with Hextall at the GM spot. It'd be tossing a ton of money to fix a problem that doesn't really exist. |

Ya true.
Do you think Laughton makes the team this year as the 3C?
If so, that could push one of your other centres otherwise you'd have:
Giroux
Couturier
Schenn
Laughton
Lecavalier |

It looks like Schenn might be experimented as Giroux's left wing. If Laughton would make the cut, he'd be the 4C and Lecavalier 3C, IMO. |

If Hexy goes all in like that for a UFA, it has to be for a stud DMan, which don't normally become available. I think it's clear that the D needs to be the focus. I am happy with the tending and the forwards in general. |

BSchenn will most likely play LW on the top line with Giroux and Voracek. Laughton seems destined for the AHL to start the year but could be the 4th line guy. Bellemare may start there though. |

I also ate at the arena, so more like $60 lighter. But I had fun. Saw some buddies, hung out with Russ Cohen & Anthony Mignioni of sportsology for a good couple hours. Watched OB try to get Darryl Sutter to take his shirt off again and got a wave from Craig Button |
