If it was me, I start lines as such:
Pacioretty-Desharnais-Parenteau
Galchenyuk-Eller-Gallagher
Bourque-Plekanec-Sekac
Prust-Malhotra-Weise
Moen and Bournival as extras.
I think they need to push Eller this year to begin stabilizing himself as the future #2. The EGG line had success last year and I think there are better options available to the team to stop that line from needing to be broken up. Prust or even Moen or Bournival can step in on the third line with ease if Bourque drops the ball with Plekanec. I think they have to let other line combinations find their groove without relying on Gallagher to be the spark plug to every line because then Eller and Galchenyuk fail to progress. Galchenyuk will start on the wing IMO but it should not be with Plekanec who will put Galchenyuk in a defensive mode first over offense. If Eller fails or an injury occurs, they can then slide in Galchenyuk but they will continue to avoid putting him in a top offensive spot if he isn't putting up points by being with Plekanec all the time. |

let's assume Eller plays a solid game, puts together a 40-45 point season and generally justifies the new contract. what do you do with Galchenyuk? - DoubleDown
You play him at left wing. You use him to kick Eller in the ass here and there, and you hope he performs when he gets into the middle. He gets into the middle if one of their top 3 centres goes down at all. And you hope he performs to force your hand into trading one of the three of them this summer. |

(frank) Bourque and replace him with Bournival - Fredobface
Very good camp so far for the kid. He's my 13th forward, so he'll play a lot with all the injuries. But you're right, if Bourque goes back to sleep like he did last year, beubye and move the kid up. He will never be a scorer, but works hard. |

i don't think so. you have to hope Bourque builds off the playoffs and can be a 15-18 goal guy. Bournival doesn't have much upside. great wheels and nonstop motor but not a whole lot else. |

Did he magically learn how to put the puck in the net, or is he just there to skate around really fast for no particular reason? |

How many times will we sing that song?
if this...if that...if...if...if...
Bourque will sleepwalk most of the year. I don't know why some are still expecting anything from him. Bergevin is a patient man... Bourque would not be on my team.

Yeah, I'm sure Bourque is still with Montreal because Bergevin is patient.
I think he's still there because nobody wants him. |
