Who gives a (frank) if he's happy. He will have his BFF Bozak.
You think he was happy playing with Joey goddamn Crabb? Still netted 30 that year - TheThrill
And where did him playing with crabb get us? |

That's what I was thinking.....but bozak isn't Elias. It's funny, I've really grown to appreciate how good Elias is. Sykora, Gomez, Clarkson.....not the same guys without him. - mykokes
One of the most underrated players of our generation. |

Why screw with the only proven line we have. Kessel bozak clarkson isnt even a good second line |

I was thinking similar about JG. His awareness level on the ice seems to absent !!
I understand its pre-season but he is off.
We shall wait until games 50-70 before I am concerned. |

He produces like a second line player on the second line, and like a first line player when with kessel.
I have no issue with him, especially if Dion doesn't slap any shots at him - lumlums
If Lupul stays in front of the net, the odds of that happening are slim. |

hes paid 5.5 million dollars.
he has a history of producing well with high end players, ex. kovalchuck
last year didnt work great with lupul and kadri - is it really that horrible of an idea to try in a pre season game? no need to talk down to me for an idea, cmon dude. |

It's my personal observation (after many years of watching this crap) that there's a gentlemen's agreement that the home team gets to ice a slightly better lineup for pre-season games.
On a related note, waaaaaay back the NHL instituted a rule that you have to dress at least 8 regulars for a pre-season game. This was put in place after Montreal came to Toronto with absolutely nobody worth watching, and after the Leafs complained, they put a couple of guys on the train to make it before game time.
I remember this vividly, because I was at that game. I was sooooo happy when my buddy told me his dad had given him three reds to watch the Leafs vs. Habs - I thought I was going to see Lafleur. |

It's not a horrible idea.
It's actually a great idea for preseason - let him bang in some meaningless goals against AHL competition, and maybe he remembers how to do it in a real game. |

Randy already screwed with the "proven" line when he took Lupul off it. That seemed to work out.
By the way, JVR-Kadri-Lupul would be a pretty legit line
Drop the Clarkson hate for 5 seconds and look at big picture. They'd have to put their best shutdown lines against those 3 and that would leave Kessel to light up their weaker lines. |

That’s hilarious. They’re icing the best possible team they can against our tryout team.
I wonder what the motives are? Trying to get a little hype going? By winning a few meaningless games? Because they know there won’t be many wins for them this year?
And by extension, their Canadian team low attendance is going to take a beating for a few years now?

By this logic, JVR and Kessel can't be seen as playing well together yet either. Nor Lupul and Kessel. Hell, bernier is still unproven as a starter too and Rielly might be a flash in the pan.
"History" ftw |
