IDK, maybe Im expecting too much. I just see a lot of gliding, afraid to play physical at times, bad turnovers. He looks passive. I was hoping he would take charge.
- GOA88

I didn't think he was passive. But I saw a player last night that looked like he was destined for the Phantoms instead of showing that he belongs with the big club.

I expected a bit more from him, in terms of being noticeable. Not necessarily in terms of providing offense, but being a pest and physical presence. He hasn't played bad, or even close to bad, but he also hasn't looked like a guy trying to kick in the door to make a NHL roster.

I think Bellemare was a lot more effective, and honestly, so was Rinaldo.

The one guy who has looked bad is Schultz. He didn't play well in London, and last night he was awful looking. Hopefully it's a vet getting his legs going, because if he can't be any better than he was last night, the Flyers will be in trouble if they run into injuries and have to actually use Schultz on a semi-regular basis.

Conversely, Raffl, Alderson and Cousins have looked very solid.

Yeah, saw and fixed the typo. I was in Dallas Stars mode, pulling together stuff for their game preview. The joys of multi-tasking.

He was brutal last night. Hopefully it's just some rust.

Morin looks good. Better than Grossmann so far IMO (from what I have seen, didnt watch all games or all of last nights game either)... Just sayin....

I think he was fine. People have to temper there expectations of Laughton a little. I know he was a point producer in juniors but in the NHL he will be counted on good defensive play, pk and chiping in a goal here and there. I think some people just assume that since he was a first round pick he should be a point producer like Mckinnon or Drouin or some of the other skilled young players in that draft. His niche will be playing solid d and killing penalties.

Last night was tough to really evaluate a lot because guys were out there with just random wingers. I mean we had Stortini, Rinaldo, Rosehill and Powe in the lineup. I thought Couturier seem to be skating faster like he did some skating work this summer. Also nice to see him get a little involved with Phanuef as I think he plays better when he has an edge.

I'm looking forward to tomorrows game if Berube said he wants to use players who will be in the regular lineup.

I'm glad I'm not the only one completely unimpressed with Laughton this preseason. He is making what should have been a very tough decision for Hexy be actually quite easy. I don't expect points from him but boy, he is so much more capable on the defensive side of the game then we've been seeing from him. He's Terry Murray bound for sure.

Grossmann hasn't played yet this preseason . Morin has had some ups and downs but that's to be expected. Still like his potential. He played better yesterday than on Monday: one of the few bright spots for the Flyers.

Actually, all four of the top D prospects have had some good moments in camp and the preseason to date.

Morin looked better last night than in the game in Lindon, except for the one really bad turnover in the third.

In London, he looked a bit hesitant, both physically & with the puck, despite having some very solid shifts over the course of the game.

Mark Edwards of Hockey Prospectus praised Morin's progress. Flyers just need to be patient with him, because when he finds his way, he could be a monster.

That was pretty much decided before camp even started. He hasn't practiced at all with the big club in Voorhees -- was exclusively in the rookies/prospects sessions -- even after Giroux's injury. Except for the Couturier line and Mason, the group that took the Canada road trip was more of the "B" group.

I thought he's been one of the better Flyers in the first two games, at least on the defensive side of the puck. I don't expect much offense from him his rookie year, even at the AHL level. He'll also never be a flashy player.
- bmeltzer

Im fine with Laughtons game to this point. Honestly I think he could use some seasoning down with the phantoms. Some times people expect to much to soon.....I remember watching a gangly Braydon Coburn when he first came to philly....I was like ...my god what were they thinking and as others have said Schultz has had a slow start.
as far as Couturier, he really hasn't jumped a gear yet. It may have something to do with getting use to Simmonds on the wing....

pretty weak lineup last night....happy I turned down free tickets...if you considered 25$ for parking and 12 $ beers free.

Totally agree. Developing defensemen is a painstaking process that isn't always a smooth upward arrow, even from year to year. When the Flyers drafted Morin last year, they went in knowing it was going to be about a five-year process before they have a real sense of how high he can push his upside.

Franzon's goal was not Mason's fault. It was going wide but then deflected off LSchenn.

That's fine with me. Even a guy like Hedman has not really been impressive at all until last season.

I'm expecting him to be physical and get under the other team's skin. Not to score points, but to be noticeable. He hasn't been very noticeable.

He hasn't been bad, but he hasn't looked like a guy that Berube or Hextall is going to say, "there's no way we can keep him off this team", at least not the two games I've watched.

He's busted his tail and been very solid overall, but I wanted him to come in and kick down the door and make it hard , if not impossible for the Flyers to send him to Allentown

I am lucky: I get a media parking pass (free) for all Flyers games. They have raised paid parking at the Wells Fargo Center to $20 this season. Some of my fellow media members were griping that the commissary meals at WFC are now $12 (up from $10 last season). I skipped the meal at Monday's game but it wasn't because of the price.

no one did that up in Canada....only Stortini really showed what we can expect to see night in and night out in the regular season....unfortunately.
