That's not true. Rosehill can play on the 4th line as a depth forward. I wouldn't want him as a regular player in the lineup every game. But he can handle a 4th line shift in limited minutes. - MJL

Lol. I'm paying it off by purchasing the new alternate jersey haha - Hextall271
I want a new jersey for this year and I'm likely going to get sucked into buying one of these as well. |

I didn't buy one of those at the time, because I thought they were overpriced at the time. |

I bought mine out of the back of a van for $60. Legit, fight straps and all.

They could find someone more effective than Rosehill for that role though, at the same price. McGinn was just that last year. |

I remember when Hitch was here and he spoke about having "team toughness" rather than a designated fighter. I thought that was a much better concept. - johndewar
Team toughness is more about playing tough within the game, in board battles and competing, rather then about the extra-carricular stuff such as many of the fights that occur that have little to do with the actual games. |

I like that idea better too. It doesn't need to be a fight necessarily either, but a big hit in retaliation or a face wash after a play. |

McGinn is not an enforcer. And it doesn't do a young player who needs to play, any good to be sitting in the press box for close to 50 games. |

The thing is nobody here wants a one-dimensional goon like Stortini playing either. Rosehill adds more than just fighting. Brashear, Eager, McCarthy, etc. etc. all did when they played too. Hockey is more than just making pretty plays and scoring goals. You need muscle too. - GOA88
From what I've seen of Rosehill and, looking at the numbers, he's a liability on the ice. |

The whole Goon/Fighter/Enforcer debate will always be there. As long as someone carries one there will be a kind of need. Like condoms I would rather have one and not need it then need one and not have it. I don't want my skilled guys having to fight. Yes simmonds and schenn and schenn are willing but I want them on the ice. That is why it is important for guys like Rinaldo and Rosehill to be able to add another deminsion to their games. Both are resonalbe skaters. If they can be better defensivly and say Rinaldo can do some PK work it makes it so much easier to carry them. |

Ideally you'd want dudes like Chara and Lucic who can totally wreck guys but play at a very high level, but those are kind of rare. |

I agree but I would have rather had him in for 34 games last year instead the 18 he played. |

I like fighting and I believe it always has and always will have a place in the sport. Its one of the things that attracted me to the sport as a kid. Sounds like if fighting was gone all together you would be fine with it. Im old school hockey. |

13th forwards that play at a very high level? If a player can play at a high level, he's not going to be a 13th forward. |

The "need" for an enforcer may be wholly creating by historic practices though. It might not be a true "need"
Anywho, I think the enforcer will be dead within the next decade but that's just my own speculation. |

It's heading in that direction. And the valid argument is how many times did the Flyers really need an enforcer last year? I can't recall exactly, but it wasn't many. I think as a veteran, and not a full time player, Rosehill is more then just an enforcer. He can play a little bit. And if there is a long term injury, there is always an option of recalling a player, and leaving Rosehill in the 13th forward role. |

Rosehill is a viable option as the 13th forward but not the best option, IMO. I would rather have Rinaldo in that role or an expanded version of it. |

I do too but I would like him in the 13th role, maybe "platoon" with another player (Bellemare, Gordon, etc). |
