Cap allowing, I still think a cup of coffee with the Flyers, up to 9 games and even as a healthy scratch, would do wonders for him. Just being around the team and seeing how they operate on a day-in/day-out basis would be great for him before going back to juniors. - jmatchett383
I think Morin is going back to juniors, sooner then later. |

Agreed, if any young dman is going to stick to start the season it will be either Manning if they are carrying 8 or Alt if someone is injured.

Well thats what an enforcer is in todays NHL. They require that you can somewhat play hockey. Believe me when I say Brandon Prust is absolutely counted on to the drop the gloves when needed. Watch CH 24 on NHL network. He prides himself on being a good fighter. - GOA88
One of the reasons why Montreal acquired George Parros, was because they felt that Prust was having to fight too much. |

I have a legit question. In your opinion why do you feel it would be more beneficial for Morin to play in juniors as opposed to playing in the AHL? There is no reason he cant play big minutes for the Phantoms against tougher competition. I feel like going back to juniors just stunts his growth. You cant get better until you play against better opponents. Its simple logic. Not attacking your views or anything, just thinking. |

I think it is against to the rules to pluck a guy out of juniors to put in AHL if he is on a junior contract with a team unless he will be in the NHL. |

I didnt know there was a rule against it. From what I understand. He can play in the minors, then be called up to the Flyers if needed but if you send him back down... he has to be sent to the juniors. |

He's not allowed to play in the AHL until next season. It's NHL or Juniors for him. |

i'm tired of the flyers always having a guy like this in their system. - hammarby31
It really is amazing with Rinaldo and Rosehill already under contract, that Stortini was signed. Shows a lot about the mentality of the front office. |

I don't feel that it would be more benficial for him to play in juniors versus the AHL. But he is not eligible to play in the AHL. I'd rather have him in the AHL if it was possible. So you obviously are misreading what my view is. |

I also should have re-phrased my question. What I meant was "do you" not "why do you" |

Nah, just the NHL. He's not allowed to go near the AHL until after his junior season is up -- then he can sign an ATO for their stretch run. |

I read that the first time. You incorrectly assumed that I thought he was better off in juniors then the AHL. |

By CHL/NHL agreement Morin is ineligible for the AHL. He would need to be at least 20 years old. |

Here is some of the agreement...
There is an agreement in place between the NHL and the CHL (Canadian Hockey League, the overarching organization beneath which stand the OHL, the WHL, and the QMJHL) which exists primarily to protect the CHL. The rule is as follows:
Players drafted and playing for CHL teams are ineligible to play in the professional minor leagues (AHL, ECHL) until they are 20 years old (by December 31st of that year) or have completed four years in major juniors.

OIC. I guess I just assumed because Ghost and Hagg got those at the end of last year. |

I think junior players can play in the minors after the CHL season but Ghost and Hagg played in the NCAA and SHL, respectively so it wouldn't apply. |

If we're gonna make a distinction between fighter and enforcer then I'm gonna make another one: goon and the description of play you gave is what they are except in this case they have to be really ugly too and Stortini is just that! Now with said distinctions and considering stortini's traits I'd consider him an Elite Goon, perhaps the best there is. - JoeRussomanno
I wouldn't consider him an elite goon. He's actually a pretty bad fighter when it comes to the heavyweights. |
