Yikes:

''The videos did not demonstrate any aberrational driving by Tony Stewart until the point of impact with Kevin Ward, at which point his vehicle veered to the right up the track as a result of the collision. Prior to that, his course was pretty straight,'' said Tantillo. He added that toxicology evidence from Ward's autopsy ''indicates that at the time of operation he was under the influence of marijuana. The levels determined were enough to impair judgment.''

Tony Stewart cleared by grand jury, family still looking to pursue civil charges/damages.

Also this article fails to mention to turn a funny car on dirt you have to rev the engine to get the car to turn faster.

Wards family is going to sue but they are going to lose due to the toxicology report.

Yikes for the fact that someone made a poor decision getting out of a car on a race track and the only reason this made news was because it was a NASCAR driver who ended up hitting him.

if you said "yikes" im curious what your opinion is on all this. Basically why "yikes?"
- gerbe42

I think the "yikes" has to do more with the inevitable backlash from the judge, jury and executioner also known as "the peanut gallery".

Watching Fox Sports Live last night, their political analyst seemed to think that Stewart is still going to have to pay something out, but not anywhere near as much as he would had Ward not had marijuana in his system.

ESPN is the worst channel I have ever watched and I don't watch it anymore, haven't for years. The can give a S$$T less about the NHL and the only time they show Hockey is if there is 15 seconds left in sports center or ESPN news and they might show a goal but WILL show a fight. F$$K them that channel sucks ass.
- SABRES 89

I agree with the sentiment that ESPN doesn't put much emphasis into hockey, but let's be honest here: would you put that kind of emphasis if you were in charge of running it, don't have any television rights to broadcast the games, and it's a sport where at least half the country still doesn't give two poops about?

All that being said, Pierre LeBrun, John Buccigross, Katie Strang, and Scott Burnside all do excellent work for their website.

They all do stuff for several sports outlets though for the most part. It's not like ESPN is the only place you can go to find information from them.

What I don't understand is why people feel they have to attack Jeter ? All he has been is a class act and a good baseball player for 17 years . I am not a Yankees fan and I can appreciate his play on the field as well as how he conducts himself off the field . Folks that insist on bashing him on his last lap around the league really take themselves far too seriously.

I find it annoying on ESPN, but then I remember to imagine if we had an athlete in Buffalo who was that iconic I would enjoy it very much.

So i guess you would rather have the crappy network ESPN talk about all the scum bags in sports instead of showing or talking about a guy who has not only accomplished a lot but is also a respectable person as well..........got it.

27 World Series rings gets you all that attention let alone 5 for Jeter himself, give credit where it is due. Crosby can't hold a candle to Jeter

- SABRES 89

Jeter was a great player but this whole farewell tour is pathetic.

I don't hate the Yankees, but it's becoming embarrassing. He's not the best player of all time. He doesn't need to be celebrated 100 times this year

Hey Goose, I was definitely wrong about Stewart's goal scoring prowess. For some reason I had in my head that he had scored 28 goals twice in about 60 games each season. But it appears I was wrong or confusing him with someone else, maybe E Kane? I thought he scored at about a rate of 35g/82 games. But he is more like a 25/82. So I agree that 25-30 goals is more than we should expect. And I was wrong to say that your logic was faulty. I was basing that off my mistaken belief that Stewart scored more than he did.

I offer to you my sincerest apologies. And I promise to start doing my homework so that I can keep up next time.

I may be an arrogant, egotistical, know-it-all. But I will admit when I am wrong, and I will apologize when people deserve it. My bad Goose. Sorry.

That's exactly how I felt when I looked up Stewart's stats.

I had become what I hate most in this world. I was that guy who was so sure he was right when he had no clue what he was talking about.

There's no problem being wrong and then admitting it, but people don't need to be wrong and jerks about it.

We've all been there. I have a saying, when your think you know everything you know nothing.

As far as Stewart, its one year on the deal, he's an experienced player. How bad can it be?
