Finishing last, or near last, year after year after year is not something I'm down with. There are no guarantees with it, generational players aren't there to be had every draft.

Anaheim picked Perry and Getzlaf in the back half of the first round, they supplemented them with some other good picks but not first overall picks. Hopefully we get a few decent players like Virtanen, Horvat, Shinkaruk and McCann?

Was Alexander Keith's just cited as a positive in terms of beer offerings? I hope there's something better than that available somewhere in the building, because the Giants just got 4 taps from Parallel 49, including Gypsy Tears and Hoparazzi as permanent offerings.

Guys, I'm thinking if starting the draft through the message board on Fri morning, people can just post their picks as soon as they can. I'll update the draft order, players available and also make a post updating the draft picks as they're made. Hopefully we can get a round done every 2-3 days. Trades will be allowed during the draft as well.

(I'll email this message to everyone and on Carol's blog tomorrow).

Sounds good. Just one item, we'll need to make sure that the draft order does not get screwed up (i.e. someone posting their pick when it's not their turn - which would obviously reveal your strategy and possibly affect the next draftees pick).

Any thoughts on this? i.e. how to ensure it's the right person's turn to post their draft choice?

P.S. oh, and seeing as the deadline for roster spots is quickly approaching (midnight Wednesday?), it looks like the majority thus far want to include extra bench spots etc. Perhaps you could confirm on the board once the deadline ends.

PPS - looking forward to more quality pool hijinks shortly!

Edit: pardon me, one last thing. Do we now have the full amount of teams and their rosters in order prior to the draft, so we know which players are available in preparation of the draft ( I note on the pool age we have 18 teams, but I think there were a couple of people on the board who wanted to join?)

Parallel 49 makes damn good beer. Still, Keith's is far beyond most stadium offerings.

My headphones survived their trip through the washing machine, unfortunately, my iPod did not. Of course, I blame Gillis.

IMO Horvat had a stronger game. Not that I'm putting major stock into one pre-season game.

If you had a third line of Shink Horvat Vey, how would they do against other third lines?
- VANTEL

Probably pretty good for the most part. Seriously though, how much better are Higgins and Hansen going to be? They work hard, but can't score goals to save their lives.

I think the 1st round will go about as fast as Vantel can type. He has all the picks, right?

Nucker to avoid mistakes you should probably just post who's up to pick before we are allowed to make a pick.

Also, what do you guys think about pooling some money together so the leagues winner actually gets rewarded with something?

I agree with your suggestion of advising on the board (or through PM) whose turn it is to draft (and also keeping an on-going list (to be updated on the board?) of who has drafted who, up to date, so we don't have any repeat picks)

As far as funds involved, I'm game as long as it's not unreasonable (i.e. $15-$25)

Sounds fine to me - as far as the prize, we could maybe throw in a free "I *heart* Porn* tattoo on the forehead? a great story to tell your grandkids! If that's not kopasetic enough, what about several hot dates with Vantel's Fillipina entourage? (you know, not his main 'squeezes' but the peripheral harem "B" listers )

Since we are talking pool here I would like to let you all know that every one of my Turd Burglars is available for the right price. Some will be easier to coax from me than others, but all offers are welcome

I generally picture Zogg in a plush leather armchair sipping a glass of brandy in his silk robe as he engages in the social experiment of interacting with the ignorant peons on this board
