Waived Jacob Markstrom about to get real-time career evaluation. Surely he's better than some of 30 backups. 1 yr left at $1.4, then RFA

Not bad considering he signed him for 12 years and then absolutely crushed his trade value Im amazed we got anything. All that retard had to do was keep his mouth shut and trade him in like a week out of nowhere instead of telling the world over 2 years he was going to get trade just so freakin stupid
At least we lost schneider because of it though hooray oh and keslers gone to so schneids could have stayed.
Benning Moved kesler in like 3 weeks and he would only go to one team Gillis was so so so so bad |

Probably better to send him down sooner than later. He has better chance of getting through now than at the end of preseason |

Don't forget the retained salary as well. And a potential cap recapture penalty for Matthias.

True, but still seems like it is mismanaging assets... maybe he is not an asset if there isn't any perceived value. |

If Markstrom clears waivers the #Canucks will have $1.075M in dead cap space in net this year.

Meh, he didn't have an option really - and the entire league knew he would have to put him on waivers anyway.

The $800k is all Gillis, but if we are going to rag on him for that then at least give the schweaty one kudos for the Shink and Bo...
I am taking Markstrom's demotion as a sign they want Horvat around at the start of the season and maybe longer... |

That's it. One leaf fan said the Pronger was a 'generational player'. I would argue he wasn't even top 5 in his generation. |

Agreed, this is by far the best time to try and sneak him down.
Numerous teams over the cap while many others have 50+ players in training camp.
Also, lots of teams are eager to see what they have between the pipes before making a goalie acquisition, best time possible in my POV.
All that to say i hope he clears |
