So Mike Gillis sent Samuelsson, Sturm, Grabner, Bernier, Luongo, 1st rnd pick and 800K dollars to Florida for Matthias and Cole Cassels?

So, essentially our former GM who sucks goats balls traded away Luongo for a 4th line centre.

Markstrom on waivers
- LeftCoaster

Any chance he clears? 1.2M contract is going to turn a lot of teams off.

Ya, I blame Gillis for lots but this one is all on Benning.
- belcherbd

We should hold off on the blame game until Booner tells us whos fault this is.

If Markstrom clears waivers the #Canucks will have $1.075M in dead cap space in net this year.

Mike Gillis finest hour

He didn't sign Miller.

Markstrom being sent down just made an open roster spot for Bo. Trade Hansen now and Shink has a spot too.

Bo looked like he knew hockey last night. He looks a lot quicker this year, pretty darn strong on the puck too!

putting Markstrom on waivers frees up some cash to add a guy like Boychuck

We knew Markstrom would probably be moved , Lack has looked great.Great 1-2 in nets. Lack will be the man in 3 years as Demko gets ready to turn pro.

If Canucks can pick up a Boychuck ,Leddy or Byfuglien via a trade, then the back end will look pretty damn good also

Yeah, good point. Good Gm. Lot's of good decisions made. Unfortunate with his time there he had 5 of the top 3 goalies in the league and couldn't quite get there.

I don't know off the top of my head, but I'd imagine the return for Lalongo, Ginger, Markstrom and the next goalie they trade (lack, Eriksson) will be rather underwhelming in hindsight

So not every team has the Luxury of a JOhn Freguson jr that offers Jeff Fingers a 4.1 mil contract. We can only hope that one day our GMs hit the success rate of the Leafs.

doesnt markstrom have to clear waivers again upon re-entry? If he clears now which is his best chance, doesnt he have to clear again if he gets called up? I am not sure...just asking?

I am not sure but I. Think he needs to clear waivers on the way down and up.
