The only option is to send Markstrom down and he will be picked up on waiver. - Yeti1181
No - it's not the only option. |

Very good potential, packaging him with say a Hansen would bring a better return...maybe? - LeftCoaster
Who knows, but as others have mentioned you can't get much for a goalie these days. If that's the case then I would believe a GM could pick up a competent goalie for nothing so why fret about developing one? |

Holy (frank), if that happened what would the Luongo trade look like (as if it wasn't bad enough already)? |

Goaltenders/players are worth whatever someone is willing to pay for them. A team like Winnipeg who doesn't really have anything coming up in terms of goaltending and currently isn't thrilled with their goaltending could make a pitch for him and let him share the load with what's his name (Pavelec). |

Well you could caray three goalies but honestly thats pretty bad too. I can see someone taking a chance with him but it's going to to be a 3 rd, or 4th round coming back. |

If Markstrom has little to no value you gotta look at moving Lack or holding onto all 3 until injuries hit other teams. Leafs want to move Reimer as well. |

Nucker, I noticed you indicated that two of the pool team's players have all been put back into free agency. I think this gives the rest of the teams who are not picking in the first fiver a great disadvantage. i.e. Crosby is available, as is Bergeron, as is Vanek, Pk Subban and so forth and that is unfair to the others - and there are at least 5-10 TOP talents available, who will obviously be scooped up by those who finished in the bottom 10.
Any thoughts on this? I just want to make sure we're all playing on a level field
Disclaimer: yes, I know I'm being a bit of a wienerhead since I finished in the higher tier
Edit: sorry Nucker, I know you've got enough sh*t to deal with |

He hasn't completely earns a full time job yet (Lack), that's how it works with goaltenders, look at Lehner in Ottawa. Rarely does a young goaltender get the number one spot without a bit of a apprenticeship, 41 games doesn't quite cut it IMO. - LeftCoaster
i don't disagree, just don't see why someone said they'd get rid of him because of the very reason you just said |

I would really play the wait and see game. The NHL is a fluid business, things change quickly. If Winnipeg would give the Canucks a 2nd round pick and Lowry I'd be more than happy. |

I do not know where I pick in the draft
So, if I'm in the top 5, I disagree with him. But if I have a late pick, then I totally agree with this message. |

Asset mangement, why give Markstrom away for nothing when you feel (guessing) that he can be what Lack is with proper coaching? Not to mention he's two years younger. Get back assets whenever you can. |

We're hooped either way. Risk losing Markstrom for nothing on waivers or try trading him for next to nothing. Goaltenders seem to be trading for pennies on the dollar right now and unproven goalies that have to clear waivers are worth even less.
Lack's value might be higher, but I'd be amazed if even he was able to fetch us more than a mid round pick and/or prospect. One way or another our goaltending situation is going to (frank) us again. |

He, Gillis, needed foresight not hindsight. He was afraid to move Schneider, no balls, poor decision...end of story. For me anyways. Gillis signs a guy to a 12 year deal then won't move a kid everyone is drooling over???
Good GM's will replenish when the opportunity presents itself is all I'm saying. - LeftCoaster
