Holy (frank), if that happened what would the Luongo trade look like (as if it wasn't bad enough already)? - bloatedmosquito
Who cares, it's in the past, if we want spots for the kids someone has to go. Plus I just don't see anyone claiming a maybe NHL backup/AHL goalie at 1.4 mil (1.2 cap hit) |

I finished dead last and I'm picking 9th. - Gullzy
Fosco had some rules put in where teams that didn't set their lineups and piled up losses couldn't tank and were instead given mid-range picks. Kind of sucks for the new owners, but I didn't wanna complicate things and reverse any rules/decisions already made. |

Benning is handcuffed, cause he either has to trade him or send him down. If you send him down and he plays well, he'll get picked up on the way back up.
They might have to trade Lack; that would be dumb though. I hope they wait till some variables change, and they take advantage of the situation. |

I'd bet there's a few teams who would take him as backup and try to help him develop to realize his potential. He apparently didn't even have a full-time goalie coach in the NHL/AHL until he got traded here. |

I understand, but damn does it suck. Buffalo or Calgary don't have to give up their high picks cause they tanked; "tanking" is a strategy too. |

I think a few teams would especially if money isn't a concern. |

A team life Buffalo could use a high ceiling tender. |

If Gillis had any brains in his head he would have traded Schneider the year before when the team wasn't in a tough spot with Lu and his trade value was very very high!! - LeftCoaster
Could not keep ,Kesler and Schneider on the same team. |

kanzig is the only player on the flames squad tonight that would be going for a goon roll. Otherwise I don't see him seeing the NHL any time soon.
Ferland/Bollig although tough will be busy competing for more of an energy player role. - numbear
Burkie may want to add some intimidation towards his ex team. |

I'll make a HB thread for the draft(with draft order and will update the picks as they're made) and one for general pool talk. |

Yeah, his thinking was that it's fine to roster young players and make trades to rebuild, but he wanted to make sure people were still setting lineups even if they had little to no shot at the playoffs. |

Yeah, it was meant to be this way to even things up. A lot of the guys picking early took over teams or didn't fully understand the pool rules and player values so it gives them a chance to contend this year with the rest of us. I'm sure everyone picking in the top 510 is open to trading their picks for some good players so if you really want someone you should make an offer. - Nucker101
No worries, I understand it's 11th hour shoight, and I know you have a lot of stuff on your hands (but if that's the case then this should be a snake draft, because, if not, then that would mean the possibility of the lower teams getting 2 outstanding players. At least picking last and then going back the other way will allow the top 10 teams to get a half decent player (hopefully) as well. Whereas if we go 1-20 and then 1-20 again, the first 5 teams are going to get even more high end talent, which will increase the disparity further.
The first 10 picking are going to get some unbelievable talent, though. And the next ten are still pretty decent players and so forth until you get to about 30 or so. In any event guess we'll have to cheat....errr try that much harder |

I laugh when anyone says the flames were or are trying to tank ...they looked like they were trying to actually win games far more than the Canucks were last year ...maybe the Canucks were trying to tank as well |

I believe we already voted that it would be a straight(non snaking/reverse) draft every year. Shouldn't be that bad of a swing IMO, the contending teams before the draft should still be contenders after. |

I was just trying to make a point. Calgary was one of the hardest working teams last season IMO. They'll make the playoffs before Edmonton does. |

The players weren't, but management was and still is totally cool with another top 5 pick IMO. |

We can explore other ideas/options and vote on them for next year, but this year is definitely set. |
