Being your favorite is one thing but being a good hockey player is another. But again what exactly has he done to show he should be here? 50pts in 135 games? There are better options IMO - Stripes77
Do you need much more from a 4th liner though? And at least wait until the season is at least halfway over, minus last season (seriously though we need to stop using last season to judge players at all) he had 18 points in 47 games which I belive is around 31pts in 82 games which is just fine for a 3rd/4th liner. |

What has Foligno done to earn a spot here? Serious question. The reason he is in the NHL was he would hit anything that moved all the time and went to the dirty areas of the ice. Now its every 5 games before he hits someone. The worst thing that happened to his career was putting up 12 points in 13 games. - Stripes77
Ya he went balls out cause it was a short stretch left in the season and it probably wrecked havoc on his body. So he tried adjusting his game for a full season and its just not good enough cause he's not good enough. |

I think this is a make or break year for a lot of players. Murray is stocking the cupboards with the players that he wants like you mentioned. If players like Foligno cannot live up to what they should be, they will not stick around. |

For all you reinhart vs Bennett people I gotta say so far Bennett looks like he belongs in the nhl and rehinhart doesn't. Bennett has been flying all over the ice and making an impact. I know they play different styles and that might be the reason he's more noticeable but I think the pre season edge so far goes to Bennett. Still very very early and by no means am I saying he's the better pick and we missed on him. |

I think the fact that TM traded for guys like Deslauriers, Carrier, and Fasching shows you that he wants bigger players. Something Foligno was supposed to be but better. Hodgson IMO is the most likely non pending UFA to be dealt.
Stewart and Stafford have that consistency issue looming over their heads but its more coming from a fan base not the general manager and the coach.
Stafford and Stewart are 20 goal scoring 45 pt per year players with a little bit of grit to their games. IF their effort is good their points will come. It all comes down to that. If they show they want it at least one will be resigned here. - Stripes77
while i agree with you and see a pattern makes you kinda wonder about gionta and ennis |

ex: the players are whacking, getting stripped |

Gionta is proven in this league and he brings the vet presence. Ennis doesn't play the typical small mans game.
I am not saying all the little guys have no place in the league but Murray has a vision of a bigger team |

I was there. It seemed like Ennis was the only one winning faceoffs and even he wasnt consistent. I havent looked at the stats yet, but I am sure it was lopsided. That and Webber were painful to watch. |

mccabe was brought in for that? who would you play over him to ensure we give up less? - gerbe42
I was saying nice play by McCabe and was saying Neuvirth is poop! Anyway, 4 goals, if they lost every game this year but scored but scored 4 goals each game could be a fun season. Not to fussed about Reinhart, I assume he will be in the minors this season anyway, team should be ok, but finish bad enough for a very good pick. |

Oh boy. I like Neuvirth as well, surprised he played poopty. Oh well, 84 or 85 games to go to make a true evaluation. |

Not gonna go there! Lol.
I think we are all learning that Reinhart doesn't belong in the NHL YET. I'm fine with him getting the 9 game looksie, and if he plays better great! But I do think going back to Juniors to A) develop his strength, b) work on improving his skating, C) develop the knack of taking it to the net hard are areas that will pay dividends in the long term while not getting killed or losing confidence. He has the smarts and understanding of the game...no worries there. He and Sabres will be better off for it.
Now, Calgary is getting strong down the middle with Bennett and Monahan...the two players I wanted in their draft years...wonder what the employment prospects are in Calgary...JK'g, lol. But if Bennett sticks, I may have to ask for those games tickets from our season ticket holder group. |

Yea I'm not sure Reinhart is ready. He doesn't look like he belongs yet.
Preseason isn't the best indicator anyways. Bennett is probably going back to juniors regardless |

Whatever they decide, i hope it's a permanent decision, they start playing jump rope with him like they did with Grigs and I'm going to lose it. |

Yeah let's trade him along with Stafford, Ennis and moulson. How about we talk about trading every veteran player we have when they score a goal. So when we suck for five years we can talk about trading girgensons, rehinhart and Risto. Jesus can we keep some players so we can be good in a few years not five. - Carubba-Kaleta
I do think GMTM ought to offer Stafford and Stewert 1 year, incentive laden contracts...that way it is always a "contract year" for both, therefore they will play with fire and brimstone consistently. I swear if they sign long term contracts and go back to their inconsistent ways I will strangle them! |

Agreed. Same with Grigorenko. Keep him in Rochester the whole year |

Ya, I don't see TM being that way...if he didn't already know it, the Grigo experiment by Darcy showed the disastrous impact that can have on a player....good learning, or at least a reinforcement experience for the team (not Grigo though). I'm pulling for him to play aces in Rochester with Armia for a good portion of the year...he apparently haas made the commitment and I would love to see it payoff in a big way for him. If that happens...good lord are the Sabres stacked at center...especially if the get McEichel |

I'm going to start a controversy here, but I don't see the Grigorenko situation as a disaster. They were caught between a rock and a hard place. No, he wasn't ready, but the two years he eventually did spend in Juniors did absolutely nothing for him either. It was only when he was eligible to play in Rochester did he start to look like he improved. If what the Sabres did with him ends up "ruining" Grigorenko's career, he never had what it took to make it in this league to begin with. |
