both Mathias and Richardson are very replaceable. I'd rather have Horvat over both of them. He's just as good as either one of them now and had far more upside. - Mungo
So what happens if Horvat needs to sit out huge chunks of the season because hes not ready?
How do you claim Horvat is better than those two players are now? Thats crazy talk. Horvat has ZERO games as a pro. That would be a irresponsible gamble.
Horvat will get his 9 games. If he outplays those two players, I still doubt they trade/waive one of them to make room. If he was a winger, it would be easier. But even Shink has the upper hand in the situation because he can come and go from the farm freely.
Richardson was good last season I thought. He played above his pigeon hole because we had no 3rd line. He's an excellent 4rth line player and with so many fails at finding excellent 4rth liners in the past... its a no brainer to keep him. Unless you want the Sedins killing penalties and blocking shots when Horvat ends up back at Junior after 25 games. Thats always an option.

So which vet gets the boot? Burrows? Burrows seems like a deadline type of deal trade really - depending on how he does during the season.
Sedin Sedin Vrbata
Shink Bonino Kassian
Higgins Horvat Hansen
Matthias Richardson Dorsett - Canuckleafer
Hansen will be moved kass on third line Burr on second and Linden Vey will take his spot Thats just my opinion |

I'd much rather see Horvat get another year in the OHL myself and keep the centers. - Nucker101
agreed.
people hate the wait though. another year in junior, then probably at least 2ish in the show before he's making serious impacts. (could be less, but will probably be even more)
takes time.
"what's wrong with horvat??, bust??// dude is 21, in his second season. relax"
but it's a double edged sword. does he progress if he's getting benched and lower minutes in the show. is there anything left to learn in junior? |

Sestito Mathias Richardson Hansen are fringe players. When someone better comes along they get bumped. - VANTEL
Richardson isnt a fringe player just because he's a 4rth liner. He's a D specialist who can surprise you with timely goals. He's an excellent 4rth liner.

ideally i'd like the canucks to keep Richardson. Mathias has little to no value IMO. He's big, but doesn't use his size, he's a centre, but he can't win faceoffs. He can shoot, but he doesn't score consistently enough. He's just a giant tease.

or boyle, Gordon, dorsett etc.
these guys are quality 4th liners that are integral to winning.

exactly, richardson played a lot of the roles that no one else wanted to.
you need guys like that. I don't see shank or horvat being that type of player either.
And as you mentioned, at the end of last season. that line of higgins/richardson/kassian was the only line that showed up to play. Come playoff time (IF....), you need that type. |

Richardson Is a Perfect 4th line center. Wins faceoffs and is very replaceable. Bo Horvat is a perfect third line center. He wins faceoffs has decent offensive upside and plays 200 feet. If BOho is even close you start him and let him learn or we will never get younger and better. Shink goes on second line and imho burrows may be the guy gone at the deadline but it may be time. I think Matthias or hansen will be gone before the season starts and I believe Kassian if not performing will be moved in favor of keeping Burr I guess we shall see. Horvat will be fine |

Well, far more 19 year old prospects of his quality have been sent back to junior for their final year then in the NHL I think. I doubt the majority of prospects suffered for it. Its is standard. Horvat is a decent prospect but not so far accross that invisible line where his career is hurt by playing with kids.
Horvat will get his 9 games, dominate in junior, dominate in the WJC, OHL play offs followed up by a stint on Utica(or the Canucks potentially) to finish his year. He'll see a bit of pro I bet. I really like his odds next season. Even if he plays for the Comets, he'll get called up for a look and possibly much more.

I know.
I was just commenting on the time it takes. he probably wont be putting up significant numbers at 21, let alone ditching proven nhl'ers for him at 19.
and im the same with nurse. I know he's a massive part of the oilers future, but he's just not ready most likely. but how much more can he learn in the soo?? so much rather him in okc |

it's the obvious choice.
and I wasn't suggesting keep him up. quite the opposite. as I thought I made pretty clear. my bad
it's just not the ideal situation. if the rules allowed, he'd be much better suited to the A. this was the point |

Richardson is an excellent 4th line center! Matthias would be a good 4th line LW'er instead of Sestito, way more offense than Sestito.
Matthias Richardson Dorsett
I don't like Vey as the 3rd line center because he's very suspect defensively, Horvat would be better suited for that position. Vey on RW maybe is the way to go but then what do you do with Hansen? |
