Shink as well as he has played should go to Utica and earn the call up. With vey guaranteed a spot this team doesn't have room for another undersized skill guy at this point. They do have room and a need for a center that can win faceoffs. Horvat has been above 60% both games in the dot so far and if he keeps it up I think we see him stick around.

little to no value?
take him off your hands for a 5th in a heartbeat - hugefemale dog77
Nah, we'll keep him until the trade deadline. He'll be a good trading chip. Not too expensive, is UFA next year. A pure rental with no long-term consequences... should be good for a 3rd or 4th round pick :p |

I didnt suggest that even... thats why I mentioned fans only. Im not even going to pretend to know what our coach thinks right now. Im a wait and see guy this season and he may very well see a role for Mathias that sees him finish his contract here.

Richardson is an excellent 4th line center! Matthias would be a good 4th line LW'er instead of Sestito, way more offense than Sestito.
Matthias Richardson Dorsett
I don't like Vey as the 3rd line center because he's very suspect defensively, Horvat would be better suited for that position. Vey on RW maybe is the way to go but then what do you do with Hansen? - LeftCoaster
Carry 14 forwards give the some games off to rest seeing we have the worst travel schedule |

that 4th is beauty at face value.
it's got most of the things that can make 4th lines succesfull and a b1tch to play against for opposing teams |

Horvat plays above richardson because he has more offense. both great at faceoffs but horvat is a better choice at least to start the season
Burrows and kassian are going to be intersting to watch this year. Burrows without the twins scares the tar out of me and Kassian I believe wont have the slack as the guy traded for Hodgson anymore. Vey Shink Horvat are going to push those two and hansen. Burrows should be the one gone too much money and he will not get over 15 without playing with the twins |

Where does that leave Vey though? |

I would still have Horvat and Shink play here and move Hansen. If they fail I would say Hello Connor McDavid. |

Vey should play on the wing in the top 6 because I don't know that he has the size and skill-set to play in the bottom 6 |

First off, Gillis sucked.
That said, just to say Schneider and Lu for Horvat and Mathias looks bad. But last year, there were those that would have bought out Lu or traded him for a few pucks just to get rid of contract. - bazz
this and horvat's real value won't be known until he's played in the NHL for at least a few years. at the moment he's still a promising prospect. Gillis really should have just bit the bullet and traded Lu for nothing and kept schneider, but lack looks good and Miller will help. They're not too badly off from where they were and they're out of cap hell. |

but you aren't looking at them for the same role.
I think this is where people make a mistake.
Richardson is gonna play a relentless, crasher type game. killing mins and making life tough on the opposition. a 4th line role. im not sure that horvat would be ideally suited to that role if he struggles in a top 9 spot.
of course horvat is more talented. but that doesn't neccesarily mean at 19 years of age, he's gonna help the canucks win more than Richardson will. |

expecting horvat to take on that role will just get him hurt.

I never seen that in Richardson game last year. He was reliable and chipped in goals but I never seen big hits or fights . |

I think everyone is calling for someone to be moved but there is no rush to bring in these kids. |

who cares about fights. he's not a monster anyway. but applies physical pressure downlow. body first, minute eater.
anything offensive is just gravy |

That's exactly what the constant bottom feeders do. Play the kids even if they're not totally confident that they'll succeed or are ready and if they fail "well get a couple of new ones to rush next year!". Rinse and repeat.
I'm not saying they're not ready for sure, but like Booner said, let's see how Horvat handles his first 9 games. That should give everyone a good idea.
Shinkaruk is easier to handle, he plays the wing, and can be sent down or called up whenever. |

By that logic Sestito's our best 4th liner.... |

They can see how they do.
Shink brings scoring chances and finish. You could have Hansen in the box and see how her does.if he struggles send him back. If Horvat proves he is ready in the 9 games keep him. Way to early IMO to say yah or nay until he plays actual nhl games against a real NHL lineup |

No - he should have traded Schneider a year earlier and kept Luongo. |
