I am a big RNH fan. Followed him in junior. Was convinced another year in junior would be a waste for him. Didn't think his size would be a factor especially since he rarely gets hit. Too shifty.
I now think rnh should have done one more year in junior basically to bulk up for the wear and tear of a 82 game NHL season.
Bennett initiates way more contact than nuge and I believe Bennett is even a bit smaller than nuge at the same age.
Shouldn't matter how good he does. Bennett most likely needs to go back for the same reason nuge should have. |

problem was; all of our best players were relatively small.
when perron is your 'push back' in the top 6, you're certainly lacking something. - hugefemale dog77
Should alleviate some of that with our off season acq's! |

I think it's important to remember that, yes, he may have looked good last night, but this is preseason, he is not playing against a full time NHL roster, and he is not playing against guys giving 100% on every shift. Many players are getting their game legs under them at this point, so let the preseason ride out and give him 9 games to see how he handles the game against full time NHL'ers before we anoint him with full time NHL minutes |

maybe...
but he put up 52 pts in 60 games as a rook remember. he plays even ten more games and he prob wins the calder. so it's pretty tough to say for sure he shoulda went back.
the bulk alone certainly may have helped, but that also takes away a year of learning the nhl game and how to use his smaller frame effectively against the behemoths in the show.
tough to say one way or another, and you have a point. but I don't think his added weight this year is gonna be the sole reason if he in fact does have a breakout season. it'll be that added strength to go long with the tricks of the trade he's learnt from his time in the pro's |

here's hopin. I don't think there's any scenario where Purcell's, pouliot's and even leon size isn't a positive.
that added depth and size will go even further if our kids play a stronger defensive game and support our defence. which is also deeper |

but unlike Nuge, he won't be expected to play 1st line minutes and he'll have mentors to play with.
Nuge was thrown into the thick of it and expected to play a major role on day 1. |

True that! We definitely need one or two surprises on d this year! I'm not talking Shultz with 50 pts either! Lol |

Thats why they let Billins go. Additionally they have Russel in the organization. Same type of players but Russel is a little better. |

Billings went to the KHL because he knew there was little hope he could win a spot. He is a decent AHLer & replacement call up for a team. Flames still own his rights if he were to come back. Maybe he's trying to become the next Gio |

yea good for him
no resentment from me here....he wasn't good enough to crack our lineup as a regular, if he can improve/transform his game, i don't care if it's in the AHL or the KHL |

One thing the Flames DO have, is the goalie with the best mask in the league. Hiller always, always has some good art on his bucket.
Whats up with that neon green liner? |

The one thing we have hey? Are you suggesting we have nothing going for us since your NHL team beat our AHL team? Hiller does have nice equipment though. |

There are still Canuck fans out there that don't realize what their team really is ...by Christmas they will be back in full tank nation mode again .... |

No not remotely close
I don't think most Canuck fans think they are going to be but this whole change is coming theory they have is a bit premature ...until any of these kids they have stick with the team I just don't see it ....I guess I've just seen too many players in the past on different teams excel in a few preseason games but disappear in the reg season to be impressed by it |

I see the Casucks challenging for a playoff spot. Torts really fuked that team culture up last year! Look for Willie to change the whole team atmosphere.
