The original 17 year deal they signed with six phony seasons tacked on at the end deserved punishment. Lou ignored the warnings and screwed his team. Lots of great talent at #11, not so much at #30.

and yet, didn't the league rescind the penalty last year or something? he basically got off iirc.

Bellemare, Jones, Laughton, Rinaldo, Akeson

Some combination of this is our 4th line and 13 + 14 forwards, no? Or do we roll with Jones/Bellemare at C, send Laughton down, and carry Lauridsen or Manning as an 8th?

i understand an organization needing to move on, and that time has come in nj. i don't feel the owe brodeur anything, honestly. it doesn't seem like any other club has interest in brodeur, which surprises me to some degree. i think he can still play, but not as a starter. it would be weird to see him in another sweater.

what i don't get is the devils fans disdain for him. they just want him to go away.

- hammarby31

I understand it the rationale from the org perspective. Just think that they should have handled this differently.. He's an icon IMO As for the fans, I have no idea what they're thinking. They've been spoiled for a long time and if by chance Schneider isn't their answer in goal, they'll soon realize what they had.

Yeah, they dropped from 11th to 30th in the draft, but still had a shot at some good prospects at 30.

I knew it was ugly. They actually had a few guys that could score, but their goalies played like poop. Hextall was hurt, and Wregget and Peeters....Oi Vey!
- Jsaquella

but peeters made that great glove save on a gary leeman penalty shot in 1990.

i remember it like it was yesterday. (because i have no life)

Actually Lou L was masterful at stashing players and forced rule changes

Wasnt there a defenseman whose career was essentially over he/the Devs traded to San Jose or somewhere to circumvent the Cap or other rule. The guy stayed on LTIR on the other clubs roster and got a low draft pick for doing it ????

EDIT- Vladimir Malakhov was the player, they send a conditional 1st round pick and him to San Jose for 2 players and San Jose traded that with St Louis

And of course Mogilny was sent to the minors when it was a means of cap compliance everyone could use

A future 3rd line center? Maybe 2nd line at best....

yep. i didn't even bother to post the malakhov situation because i was feeling lazy to look up the specifics.

there was also the matter of the islanders trading for thomas last year or the year before to get to the cap floor with no intention of wanting him on the roster or playing. they weren't breaking the rules, just using them to their advantage.

They did the new owners a favor, but they still dropped 19 spots in the first round. And it could have been 29.

Amazed they went with Quinneville there. Took the Blues about 3 seconds to grab Barbashev. Still thought NJ would jump at Lemieux

curious to see how the Eagles win this one with the entire offensive line missing. All the experts seem to have the 49ers wining this one.

Edit: just checked the line. Guess I should have said the local experts (Inqy) have the 49ers as the favorite.

1-2 niners playing at home after 2 losses
this game should be pretty much an easy win for them if they're serious about this season, but i still have hope for the eagles

Even 25 years ago the flyers were circumventing the rules. When is chris pronger playing again or will it be another year on LTIR. What a fraud, yet somehow its the devils who were circumventing the rules with the kovy deal?
- devfan30

Feel free to explain how the Flyers are circumventing the Cap by using LTIR for a legitimately injured player?

Three games in three night, plus a glorified scrimmage last night. They need camp bodies
